Trekyards is so named because they are big on star ship design. To think they shouldn't comment on the things they dislike about a design is dumb. They gave big props to the overall design, to incorporating jellies and lighted squares, and getting the general feel correct. They pointed out that the increase in size makes the stations senseless (the curved controls make sense but then they put two chairs at the station, negating this), they point out that the lighting is a bit much, and then some personal foibles about some minor things.
To say that they were "disgruntled" for not loving it, well I guess it's true what they say "There's no way to satisfy the Discovery fanboys"
I'm not saying they shouldn't comment about it, just that their comments usually amount to: "not close enough to TOS." They are not commenting on the design itself. It's like this fixation on straight struts. The inclined struts are not a bad design. The only reason is that "they are not TOS enough". If they had made them straight, they would have found something else to complain about, until you get to a conform copy of TOS.
Oh and using the word "fanboy'" as an insult on this kind of forum is like the pot calling the kettle black...
And that's a miss. Look at DS9. They hunted down that old, expensive-as-fuck equipment from the 190-fucking-60s in order to make a TOS episode. You don't get that passion in STD, and they could do it. Why don't they? The appeal is now shallow and superficial. Fun but meaningless. Like a one-night stand rather than a committed relationship. The reason is obvious. It would cost too much money. The corporate mindset at work.

The design of the Enterprise bridge was consistent enough considering Trek has a regular history of aesthetic changes that are in spite of the time chasm between ST VI and TNG.

The Enterprise's bridge was very consistent with the TOS bridge.
Uh, no, not really. It had more in common with the Abrams Trek version than the TOS version.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was trying to say... The overall disposition of the bridge is very similar, the red/orange ramp, the location of the turbolift door, the captain's chair, the helms/tactical console, the science station's location, the moirae effect of the science station, etc. They went in great length to reproduce the general feel of the original bridge. But nope... It's Abrams Trek.
This is the first i've seen the new Enterprise bridge and... LOL. Just LOL.
That is what STD fans have been cheering about? That is meant to be a return to continuity? Admiral said it right: the chair is the same.
All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
