Nuclear disaster drills is what they were called when I was in school. Squatting in the hallway, head against the locker with your hands over your head to protect against potential blown glass next to your classmates...

And people say the world is worse today.

I hear that I was in Highschool when Columbine happened, my school in california was walking on eggshells for weeks if not months.

This is a pretty comprehensive article (for general news media, at least relatively). I'd kinda take long term effects of this kind of system as a given.

I wanted to switch the channel when 911 happened but only that was one.

I got it that it was not the end of the world as youngin.
