Without unpacking your personal dilemma regarding abortion, I feel like this sufficely reflects upon Georgia's motion to enact this policy.Steve wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 1:09 amAlso, this law is like any bad law: it's written shabbily by ideologues more interested in scoring points than actually addressing an issue, since that would require real thought.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:45 pm There is no way this will hold up in court. No freaking way.
Even if I weren't in favor of abortion on demand as an absolute right (I believe very firmly that as long as the fetus is inside the woman's body it's her absolute right of bodily autonomy to do with that fetus as she pleases), I'd be disgusted at this pathetic act of political gamesmanship that will only succeed in screwing over poor women for a few months.

Steve, given your ideological struggle, I'd like to introduce a hypothetical to you.
You're in a medical facility with a timer bomb about to go off. There are two exits, equidistant from you. To your left is a toddler, strapped into a high chair. To your right is a medical fridge full of viable frozen embryos. You only have time to grab one before booking it for the exit. Which do you choose?

Lol, I'd choose the baby, every time. Who needs to be asked that?

The way I see it is, the fetus is inherently violating the woman's bodily autonomy by being there as soon as she decides it doesn't have her permission to be there.
As such, logically the only right thing to do is to end the crime against her person by removing the fetus. If it's not viable outside the womb? That's not her fault.
I know that my position is pretty radical and not shared by many, I know that there is a natural aversion among all healthy people to harming anything perceived as a child, but honestly, I think this is the best solution.
Besides, the world's such a shithole that antinatalism is looking increasingly like a good thing. We shouldn't force women to have kids they can't take care of, it's only going to make life worse for everybody involved.

So, babies are rapists according to you? That's easily the stupidest thing I've heard tonight.
Look, I'm mixed about abortion.
On the one hand... murder is murder. Sorry, those are the rules on a world-wide scale and that's just the way it is. Extinguishing a life is technically murder. Seriously, why is this viewed as an 'evil viewpoint'? Is 'I think it's wrong to kill babies' a bad crusade? Please get us back into the normal universe.
On the other, a woman shouldn't be arrested for it if it's her choice, but there should be a limit, like if there's proof the baby is a living being then... too late! Adoption is a thing, y'know.

Well I will go out on a limb and start off by saying that using a condom isn't a violation of our divine cosmic order.

Chris, how would you act in the scenario I proposed to Steve?

And then people will panic, thinking we're gonna go extinct. Human beings, man. So predictably stupid. Have been for thousands of years.
