1 million out of 8 million species threatened by anthropogenic extinction

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. Note: It is the desire of the leadership of SFDebris Conglomerate that all posters maintain a civil and polite bearing in this forum, regardless of how you feel about any particular issue. The planet has dogs, chocolate, and wine. The rest of the universe doesn't.

Oh yes, we have so much to love here. But Earth is destined to die in the next... seven billion years or so anyway, and we likely won't even make it past a billion years, given what life will be like on the surface then. And that means taking our civilization elsewhere. But do you really trust people not to wanna take only "certain elements" of society? Or leave animals they don't like? Then at what point, does it become, "Save all the animals, preserve some," over, "Let nature take its course?" Really.

I assume it'll go like Starcraft and the rich will ship the poor and the vocal off to Alpha Centauri or wherever just so just they don't have to look at us (I say 'us' because 'poor' here probably means 'makes less than a million an hour'). After fully automating everything and rendering us obsolete, of course.

Only the rich will ever go off-world... once it's proven safe, of course. They ain't taking risks with their lives till the lower peons do so first. Of course, it could also end up like Halo. Slow colonization. Spreading like a virus. I actually saw an article on this very thing. In a million years, we could have hundreds of solar systems colonized.

I mean that's the kind of logic that says, people are doomed to die by the age of 122, so you might as well just blow your brains out right now.

That is up to debate.

Who knows what alien delights exists out there? Then again, Fuzzy's view would be supported by Dragon Ball Super - Whis sure loves ramen. And no piss-ass meager American ramen either, full hardcore JAPANESE RAMEN, MOTHERFUCKERS, YEAH!
