The Defenders worked okay as an exclusive follow up to Daredevil.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 4:22 amIron Fist in compination with Defenders basically killed my interest n the Marvel Netflix series overall. Re: Avengers: Endgame
I loved the first half of Luke Cage 1, then Cottonmouth was killed and it turned to shit. I thought Daredevil was bland and grimderp except for the awesome Kingpin bits. I felt the Hand was literally the worst possible way to portray a magic ninja death cult, and was kind of horribly impressed with how insanely boring they turned out to be.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 4:22 amIron Fist in compination with Defenders basically killed my interest n the Marvel Netflix series overall. Iron Fist 1 was so bad I straight-up skipped Defenders because I heard it was mostly about Iron Fist and the Hand.
Jessica Jones 1 had a good theme but then fell apart because they clearly couldn't figure out how to pad out the runtime except to have Jessica repeatedly fail to take perfectly good opportunities to ice Kilgrave.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Just saw Endgame today with my partner.
First, I liked it, and it went quite fast for a bladder-threatening three-hour movie.
The fat jokes with Thor were pretty annoying, although it was nice to see his grieving on display in a way that wasn't very present in Infinity War.
I honestly would have liked to see much more of the immediate aftermath of the Snap, rather than hurrying on to the 5 years later bleak future. Given current religious trends, a huge amount of people would become convinced the Rapture had come, and unlikely to buy the true explanation of "an alien who doesn't understand resource management killed half of everyone with magic jewelry". Hawkeye's moment was good for the immediate shock, but given we all know they'll come back somehow, more of a scramble to make sense of it all and signs of the impact in the short-term would have helped me suspend my disbelief.
I'm also deducting points because, spoiler alert,
SPOILER

Ant Man didn't even try to crawl up Thanos's ass and kill him by rapid expansion.
I liked the pacing and the flow. I don't understand what's narmy about various superheroines clustering around literally-a-wounded-child Peter Parker. Could have done with more Captain Marvel but I feel her suplexing the Thanos mothership was well-timed enough to give it the right impact.
What I do NOT understand at all is people saying they liked Infinity War better.
Dear Dionysus's severed dick on a bamboo stick, Infinity War was a PENANCE to get through. It started with the plotholes, went on to dodgy motivations and nobody having much of a plan to tackle Thanos, and the villain himself vacilating wildly between "well intentioned extremist except his plan is so ridiculous somebody should just tell him that at least once, if only for the sake of quipping or pointing out his lack of self-awareness", and "pure evil". The points where I was meant to view him as sympathetic, like he really loved the daughter he abducted and put into toddler thunderdome, somehow, was painful. It took me two martinis and a bottle of wine just to TOLERATE that film, and I wouldn't have sat through the whole thing if my partner didn't want to watch it with me before we saw Endgame so much.
Absolutely NOTHING that happened justifies Strange's unfathomably contrived "The only scenario where we win is the one where I willingly give the time stone to Thanos" gambit.

What was narmy about the superheroines clustering around Peter? It was the whole blocking and world building of the scene. 1) How did these women in the middle of this great battle all converge on one point? 2) How did they know to do this? Was there a dog whistle? 3) Why did they do this when Captain Marvel is about 50 times stronger than all of them combined? Their time was better served fighting the minions. 4) The politics involved in the men doing their jobs single handedly only for the UNITED STRONG WOMEN to come along and save the day because they are working together cannot be denied. Maybe that was unintentional, but i'm not the only one who saw that.
I feel as if the reason why the Avengers did not miss Captain Marvel despite her power is that she was a right bitch to them. She turned up, bragged, and then left without giving much evidence as to her abilities. I wouldn't trust her or be in the same room as her for that matter. Brie Larson really has none of the charm of Gal Gadot and if someone is telling her to act that way then they need to stop. The franchise is partly on her shoulders now the original Avengers are extinct.

I don't think Gal has that much charm actually, but that's probably more of a Wonder Woman thing. Wonder Woman of course has ironic charm, but she's no Sarah Connor, amirite!!

Why shouldn't they all happen to be together at one spot? You're complaints are starting to sound like "if any feminist anywhere can somehow derive joy from this, it MUST be a conspiracy to personally offend me!"
And all the personality traits you complain about Captain Marvel having are the same ones that Iron Man is loved for.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Because this is a BIGGGGGG battle and that is a SMALL guantlet carried by a SMALL man travelling at high speed. And everyone with the correct genitals just happened to be in that exact one spot without any form of obvious communication? No dice.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 1:12 am Why shouldn't they all happen to be together at one spot? The traits are the same but the execution is wildly different. Robert Downey Jr can pull off ''smug but loveable douche'' very well which is likely why he got the job. Brie is currently missing the loveable part of the equation.
Re: Avengers: Endgame
That is good point. She just happened to be right woman to the role. I say this as some one who doesn't hate Brie and Captain Marvel. Then again I am not among those that turn conversation about superhero movie into political one either. I am just sensible man enjoying enterteinment.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 10:56 pm I don't think Gal has that much charm actually, but that's probably more of a Wonder Woman thing.
