Condoms are functionally 100% safe in terms of preventing a pregnancy. Every case of condom-pregnancy is ultimately user-error, as only a ripped condom can result in a pregnancy and to manage doing that, you have to try real hard or pinch it with a needle.

But that still means people are failing to use condoms like 2.5 - 3 times as much as their physical competency rate allows. And that's just during the ovulation window. It's probably like 5 times at least for people that just use them all month.

Then educate people on how to use them and to not just use one that is too small or too large and make them aware, that you can get condoms with special sizes, because indeed one size does not fit all (I have to order mine as well for various reasons and pay 1€ extra per condom, compared to a regular one). It ain't rocket science, really.

Let them teach themselves! All I'm saying is that that 98% statistic is actually inflated, or buffered, by the limited likeliness with the most fertile conditions already.

Can't do that. Republican policy is to teach abstinence only.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 10:51 pm Then educate people on how to use them and to not just use one that is too small or too large and make them aware, that you can get condoms with special sizes, because indeed one size does not fit all (I have to order mine as well for various reasons and pay 1€ extra per condom, compared to a regular one). There's a number of factors at play here. The main one is lots of men whining "but it doesn't feel the same!" The next one is sex education in the United States, which is mostly non-existent, and it places where it does exist tends to be of the even worse "Abstinence Only" variety.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 3:53 pm Can someone respectfully explain something to me, because this is like the thirtieth thread on abortion on here and no one has ever raised it: am I the only one in the world who uses condoms? They are cheap, they are easily available, they have no medical side effects like the pill, and have a 99% success rate. And of those failures, it is often user error. A condom my friends should not be reused, it should fit properly, it shouldn't be bitten, it should be examined before use etc.

When I was in high school one day I was given a flyer by a well-meaning person with an attached condom so I'd have one and the flyer was advocating safe sex. All well and good until I notice that the condom is stapled to the flyer through the condom. I have run into this situation twice, and I take that as an indication of just how dumb people can be about condoms.

Imagine being pregnant, having a very painful cramp, then suddenly there's blood coming out of you. You call a doctor...and a policeman shows up to take evidence in case they need to give you 100 years for "murdering" your fetus.

How many people are sentenced to 100 years for one involuntary manslaughter? And, IIRC, a conviction would require that the defendant acted in a grossly negligent manner.

None of that makes what i said untrue. I'd think that being treated as a criminal when you miscarry, even if you do eventually get found not guilty, is a pretty horrific thing.
