The headline you used is not quite accurate. From the article you linked to:
Please be aware that should you continue to use the discontinued version(s), you may be at risk of potential claims of infringement by third parties.

Would "you can be sued for using an old version of Adobe" be a more acceptable phrasing then?

It's a reverse Youtube copyright strike system in that instead of Youtube handling all the copyright strikes on behalf of the companies, the companies seem somehow linked in the arrangement through contract pertaining to cloud usage of certain programs by Adobe.

Actually that's the running title for the article. Though with the article itself, I don't think that amounts to that much focus in the article whereas the issue of cloud licensing replacing ownership is.
