I don't think I've talked much about the Prequels so I guess now is as good a time as any. I will say that, for me, I've always liked the Prequels. I grew up watching them and the Original Trilogy and managed to read The Thrawn Trilogy when I was able to work past my Dyslexia. Sure The Prequels Are flawed but TBH I think their negative elements have been over blown and I honestly think that many people take their dislike to far.
But back to the question of this forum have the Prequels been better received today then they were back when they were first released...? Yes.
I mean just take a look at this video that was filmed Last Month at the Star Wars Celebration The Ultimate Fan Experience.

It has been 20 years since The Phantom Menace was released and back in 1999 Everyone was going on about how terrible it was, but today? I've talked to people in stores that are meant for fans and anytime I ask them what they think of the Prequels 9 out of 10 of them say that they honestly really like the Prequels. With some of them even saying that they love it as much as the Original Trilogy. And that remaining 1% say that they don't like them but don't think they're as bad as everyone makes them out to be.
There have been fan films like The Prequels Strike Back or entire video essays that have gone over why the Prequels aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be, praising them for their creativity and the overall positive impact they've had on the Series and pop culture.
And like I said I've always liked them as I do see the good in them and honestly I think the biggest flaws of the Prequels is the Dialogue, the Really Bad Romance, (and this is coming from a romantic) and the overall uneven pace of the Prequels as Chuck said in his Essay video on George Lucas.
There are still those who find the Prequels to be pretty bad and if you still feel they aren't that good, more power to you. But I think the Prequels are a lot stronger story wise and I still enjoy them. But I would like to hear what you all think about the Prequels and if you think they've aged well

What creativity? It's Hallmark Channel fantasy miniseries with a bigger budget.
The Prequels also have flat direction, a civil war with nonsesne narrative, Christensen is not charismatic enough as a human to play galactic level war leader, the basic battle droids belong to a Canadian space adventures series aimed at 9 year olds, it has fucking Jar Jar in it...

@Slash Gallagher, as I said, more power to you for feeling that way and I mean that sincerely.

Are they still considered to be crap films? Yes.
Are they better received then they were? Yes.
Is this because people recognise their hidden quality? No.
Is this because what we have now is considered worse? Yes.
Conclusion: Vindication is too strong a word when people have merely decided that one turd is better than another turd.
See also: Star Trek VOY and ENT post STD and probably Picard.

No history hasn't vindicated prequels no mater how much prequel fanboys want to think so. From those three only RotS is some what good while other two are bland and badly made that can be skipped and you don't miss anything. Big fault of this goes to George Lucas who is neither writer or director and only cares about visuals. Because of Lucas' bad directing kid who played child Anakin in TPM was bullied so much that it really messed him up.

Re: Have the Star Wars Prequels Been Vindicated by History?
No, they remain badly shot, badly directed, badly written, and for the most part badly acted films that at every step worked to actively weaken the story they wanted to tell. They wasted an entire film on pointless garbage with TPM, they botched almost every character arc, they made Vader's fall from grace not really meaningful as he was a child murder before and after his fall to the dark side, and ruined the Jedi. Any reevaluation is from people that wouldn't know a good film if it bit them in the ass.

They are a lot better if you READ the novels, rather than watch the movies, which are just FX porn.

I wish RotS could have had Anakin's real thoughts about being denied place in Jedi Council and why he wanted so bad to be in Jedi Council as well as his conversation with Palpatine about why force sensitive children are brought to Jedi Order so young. Those really give more depth to RotS. Of course it tends to be trend that additional materila is needed. While I like SW sequels I admit that those also have that same problem.

Yeah, the new canon is basically being made to patch up their plot holes. And they claim Legends is a mess? After what they've done in just five short years? Bah!
