I guess it ties into what the fanbase had said that it has a lot of "cruel meta-commentary." Namely, "You Gen Xers and Baby Boomers fucked up the world, now it's up to Millennials and Gen Z to save the world!" Even though I've met many of them, and they're pretty much the same as the preceding generations, just as nasty, cruel, stupid, or compassionate. The Internet and electing the wrong man 19 years ago who then threw everything into chaos has escalated the cynical environment we live in. So yeah, Mark Hamill was probably victim of ageism. He's old, let the new generation tell their story. That could actually fit into the "scapegoat" role that Avellone said he was shoved into.

Well Luke wasn't really there, now was he?

But he's not really wrong though either. When people say "let," it doesn't necessarily mean they did nothing per se, it can just mean that it happened on their watch.

"At the Height of their powers they allowed Darth Sidious to rise to power, create the Empire and wipe them out."

That's not making fun of the prequels. That's just an accurate description of the plot/theme of those movies. That's just what they were about.

I mean, we were supposed to come out of the prequels thinking the Jedi kinda sucked right? That was the intention?

It's the main reason I have no problem with the new films saying Luke's new Jedi order ended in tragedy. After learning about the prequels it really couldn't have ended any other way.

It's clear that in prequels Lucas wanted to make Jedi Order seem deeply flawed and sequels are just being loyal to that idea. So really it matches that impression that we were given about them in prequels and Clone Wars cartoon. They didn't realize what was going on and when they learned truth it was already too late so it goes to that what BridgeConsoleMasher said about it happening during Jedi Order's watch without them noticing anything while Sidious played them for fools before destroying them.

I mean, shit I take issue with these movies, and I gotta agree with that.
