Notice your period is late? That's too late for an abortion in Georgia

Im quite happy to take the pill. No more having to trust a woman with the next 18 years of my life. Another reason I use rubbers.

It's sincere, but I may have written it confusingly. To be clear, I was objecting to the 100 years as an exaggeration, and pointing out that, while being suspected of a crime is always hard, especially after a trauma, it's hardly something people don't face in many other circumstances. Also, you need a warrant to get a blood sample.

Not that this makes it easier to be suspected of a crime, but the picture of someone having a spontaneous miscarriage and having blood taken right away with the threat of a 100 year sentence hanging over her head is exaggerated to silliness in several directions.

Actually, I really think that's what these far right religious crusaders want. They ARE a minority, yes, but look at how rabid they get over "the child's life." Murdering doctors, blowing up buildings, shooting up abortion clinics... really.

Yukaphile wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 9:32 am I mean, this is very much a slippery slope, and I know that's a logical fallacy, but if you're gonna arrest a woman who miscarried for "murder" then what about a woman who was legitimately happy to be starting a family with her partner, did nothing wrong? What then? She could be arrested under that same legal definition. And a woman who deliberately miscarries, in a state with harsh anti-choice laws... tbh, I can't really blame her. No woman will ever give birth to a baby she does not want, and men AND women just need to learn to accept that.
It's pending an investigation that that article said a woman might be charged with manslaughter. Not just for having a miscarriage. Nobody is actually of the mind to jail someone for having a miscarriage.

Well, there is a certain segment out there who are. And they really do wanna seize power. Look at how they've chipped away at abortion rights across so many states...

You know what would be hilarious? If women in prison in Georgia sue the state on behalf of their fetuses claiming unlawful imprisonment.

That would be fucking hilarious and would probably force the state to backtrack.

Far fewer people support a Fetal Heartbeat bill when they learn what it actually means

Let's here it for right-wing propaganda and misinformation!

We're heading back to an era of illegal abortions and women's health deteriorating. Hooray for those "family values!" Though I do wonder if they get it outlawed across all 50 states, if that means there will be doctors going underground, like Franklin was doing in B5.

Fun fact, prostitution is also legal in Nevada. Legalizing it will cut down on illegal sex trafficking, and also probably bring down population numbers, and also lead to less abortions and probably happier people.
