This is the thing I have trouble understanding. I buy that anti-choicers are worried about the child or potential child, be that based on reasoning of it being murder or based off religious belief. But how can you reconcile enforcing the life of a clump of cells and then completely abandon the child once it's born?

The regressive right has just as strong a case of doublethink as the regressive left. They claim to have nothing but sympathy for the unborn, but as soon as it's born, it's "sorry you're mom is a whore and a freeloader, kid."
"Black care rarely sits behind a rider whose pace is fast enough."

Yeah, because to them, Democrats are godless, soulless sinners.

Did I deny that? That is how the extreme hard fringe behaves, though, for the right. For the hard left fringe, they'd probably wanna impose Communism here via what they had in the USSR and think it was a paradise over there, completely ignorant to the realities of life.

To be sure, genuine Maoists and Stalinists do stalk the internet.
Funny enough they spend a lot of time decrying queer people as bourgeoisie decadence and feminism as contrary to a strong state. That so many think of decriminalizing abortion as a far left talking point is evidence of how distorted our public perception of leftism is.

Yeah, the 'center' of our political spectrum has always skewed more to the right than most places and everything left of that 'center' has been heavily vilified since the Industrial Revolution, with the first Red Scare and later Ragan being when they got systemic with it. That's why we can't get unions, it's why we can't get decent healthcare, it's why we can't get living wages. Anything remotely resembling fair treatment is considered 'communist'.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 11:30 am To be sure, genuine Maoists and Stalinists do stalk the internet.

Also, I'm just going to say it, can we not use 'queer' around here? I automatically replace it with 'abnormal' or 'unnatural' in my head. I'll never understand people's desperate need to 'reclaim' the term. I thought we were trying to normalize this stuff. Sorry, tangent.
Anyway, pay your workers enough for them buy a blasted sandwich, you greedy jerks. Unions are actually a good thing, as long as the Mafia stays out of them. Egalitarianism Forever!

Re: Alabama bans abortion
If we could reform capitalism, I'd be all in favor of it. Look at how much CEOs made in the 1950s and 1960s, a great economic boom. Now look at how much more they make today compared to the average worker. There's also all sorts of things being deregulated they should not. I'm not of the absolute "workers MUST own control over their products or they have been sold out," only if it's getting worse and there's no end in sight. My feeling is, whatever works.
