But if you think you could get it you would reach for it.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 2:32 pm If we could reform capitalism, I'd be all in favor of it. Look at how much CEOs made in the 1950s and 1960s, a great economic boom. Now look at how much more they make today compared to the average worker. There's also all sorts of things being deregulated they should not. I'm not of the absolute "workers MUST own control over their products or they have been sold out," only if it's getting worse and there's no end in sight. My feeling is, whatever works.

Re: Alabama bans abortion
No, I would not... I'd take whichever was easier, and which was better. Tbh, as sad as it is to say, reforming capitalism would take less time, would be more doable, and those greedy CEOs would be way more open to that than letting their peons take over.

Well, I think of it this way. The academic term for LGBTQ+ centric analysis of culture and media is generally Queer Studies or Queer Theory, and in spoken speech "queer" is substantially less awkward and artificial than "El gee bee tee kyu plus". And of course even that shorthand is an abridged version since I typically see it as LGBTIAQ+ in places that are being very formal.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 1:24 pm
Also, I'm just going to say it, can we not use 'queer' around here? I automatically replace it with 'abnormal' or 'unnatural' in my head. I'll never understand people's desperate need to 'reclaim' the term. I thought we were trying to normalize this stuff. Sorry, tangent.
Basically it's just a means to simplify the concept a bit, and also spare some work since a lot of times (as in that post, although not this one) I'm on mobile and well long strings of non-word capital letters are pesky in that format.

Gentlemen, can we please not derail this into another "Slash is concerned that Yuka isn't enough of a moderate middle-of-the-road democrat to survive the Red Scare" thread?

I mean, I don't see why I have to defend myself here. I consider myself pretty easygoing and definitely open to new viewpoints, past my own anxiety disorder, depression, and fragile ego and self-esteem. Can we please move back to topic, like Fuzzy said? Slash, you wanna continue this? Please create another thread.

That is, quite literally, what they always say. 'It's just easier to say'. 'You're still calling LGBT folks "weirdo freaks". Including me.'CmdrKing wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 11:43 pmWell, I think of it this way. I mean, way back when we were protesting with "We're here, we're queer, get used to it!" >_>

But yeah, no this thread has been derailed, sorry.

I believe the Orthodox Jews believe the same. But IIRC, the baby can feel pain as it's being terminated in the late stages of pregnancy, which is why I am all in favor of early screenings, so women can make an informed choice with their partner or on their own long before that.
