Police: please don’t sell milkshakes to anti-fascists

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. Note: It is the desire of the leadership of SFDebris Conglomerate that all posters maintain a civil and polite bearing in this forum, regardless of how you feel about any particular issue. Violators will be turned over to Captain Janeway for experimentation.

Unless it's, like, a frozen fish or a fruit with a pit, like peaches or avocado, I can't take this seriously as violence. It's annoying. It's crass. It's rude. It's not violent suppression of free speech.
How is trying to suppress speech you don't approve of not authoritarian? I mean if it's someone's social security number or yelling fire in a crowded theater, sure, but "Control immigration?" That's political speech someone doesn't like the sound of, and they want it stopped.

Violence: the use of physical force so as to injure, abuse, damage, or destroy (Merriam Webster).

The reason the right decries the some of the left as snowflakes is because of people who say they are injured by hearing things they don't like. Getting PTSD from Twitter, etc. This is violence used to intimidate or harass people into not giving an opinion some people don't want heard. It's very mild violence, to be sure, for now.

I suspect that if gays, lesbians, or muslims were being milkshaked, you'd be livid. Am I wrong?

Honestly? I'd be annoyed and offended, but I wouldn't consider it violence.

I put milkshakes tossed and mushy tomatoes in the same category as boos and hisses. It's not suppression of free speech, it's somebody else showing you the door and ridiculing your statements.

Well I'm curious, do you not agree that it's something that should be assertively stopped? I feel like this general dispute centers largely on semantics involving the dictionary definition of violence, which is maybe a bit silly. But I would never allow for stuff to be thrown as if just a part of a forum of any sort.

Not really. I consider a pie to the face another form of free speech, as long as it's not loaded with something the recipient of the pie-ing is allergic to.

Ah, yes, "Control Immigration". As seen here. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... referendum
Or Here. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... f-migrants

"Well that's just speech!"
Yup. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/201 ... cox-murder
Such 'speech': "It also noted a spike in hate crime around the time of the EU referendum."
Very 'just': "Most religious hate crime - 52% of all offences - was aimed at Muslims."

See, this is how fascism works. Find a wide societal problem. Perhaps wealth inequality. Find a convenient group people already mistrust, like immigrants (particularly Muslim immigrants). Say they stole all the jobs! These peaceniks in Labor are letting them all in! They're here to rape your children!
And say it as often and as loud as you can, and eventually... jackpot. You found right alchemy of hate, willingness to say damn the consequences, and probably untreated mental condition to do the dirty work.
Get enough of those, and you create a climate of terror. The entire majority group becomes Schrodinger's "Lone Wolf Terrorist". Any white dude could be the unstable dude who pulls a knife on you. So you withdraw, stop advocating, flee.
Violent rhetoric begets violent lashing out, oppressing minority populations.

Just. As. Planned.

Meanwhile, the fascistic grifter is so dependent on his image as implacable, rational, and manly that, why, he couldn't *possibly* say his bullshit whilst milkshaked. Nope, instead he's gotta hide on his fucking bus to avoid a repeat of that fate. ( https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9132151/n ... ilkshakes/ )
And he's shown as the coward and fop that he is. Because it turns out you can't convince people you'll save them from the big bad muslims if you're afraid of *looking silly*

Hey, remember that time Teddy Roosevelt finished his speech after being shot?. Because he's fucking Teddy Roosevelt, and Nigel Farage is a con man getting people killed for being too brown.

And that's how Hitler and Nazi party rouse to power in Germany during 30's. You know, people that are considered to among worst people in history. Humanity tends to repeat same mistakes over and over again instead of learning from history because most people are not educated enough and because of it are easy to be manipulated by those in power.

@Slash Gallagher I am NOT far left. You don't see me doing anything those Berniebots were doing in 2016. Look at what clearspira said. The right in Britain is our center left. And tbh, the extremists on either side worry me.

I'm just gonna rest on the idea that physical contact with someone has nothing to do with free speech.

Speaking as an actual leftist, I'm gonna back Yuka up on them. He's not far-left. He's what the right wishes they were dealing with instead of actual leftists.
