as for not banning guns, communist revolutionaries that want to ban guns are f*cking dumb. How are you supposed to have your revolution without guns?

Maybe because they aren't communist revolutionaries? My country went trough civil war with one side being communists. After that it was social democrats that changed things better by working withing system while there was bad blood before Winter War that united people as one to fight common enemy.

When the "Democratic Socialists" of America start advocating the elimination of the minimum wage and the privatization of the pension system, I'll start listening.

Wait though, as undisputedly left-wing people, why would they do that?

Sweden is the gold standard for successful "democratic socialism" and they have no minimum wage and a privatized pension system, plus other things like a tax system that burdens the middle class and private individuals over corporations.

As opposed to USA were rich get tax cuts for cost of regular Americans that don't even have access to basic things like healthcare because everything is so privatized and large corporations that alongside with richest 1% own your politicians need to profit from it. Those taxes that those of us in Nordic Countries have to pay are used to benefit people by providing government funded services. Including proper education for our children as well as option for public healthcare.

I haven't really heard bad things about Sweden, but Norway Model is what I've heard most in the past as flagship model for social democracy.

Well Nordic Countries are pretty much Social Democratic. Social Democratic system is pretty much middle ground between two extremes with government providing some things that help citizens with tax money while also having capitalism allowing businesses make profit and goods to be sold based on rules of supply and demand. Which is fitting because during Cold War my home country Finland was bridge between west and east and it still is. It's not perfect system by any means but IMO it's better than what USA has.

As far as that 2nd question goes sadly I can't answer that so I won't try. I mean I would love to but because I can't there is no point trying.

Finland spends a smaller percent of GDP on it's military than Poland. That means Finland, along with most of the rest of Europe, gets indirectly subsidized by US military protection.

It sure is nice to have a culturally homogeneous society where people are willing to make sacrificed for their fellow country man. When you start having large minorities that expect everything for them and theirs but refuse to pay for the majority or others, then a look after yourself system is better.

It abides by socialism when you acknowledge that money is a form of capital. I agree about Venezuela based on what I know of it though. Were they trying to follow Cuba or something?

Venezuela is effectively a client state of Cuba and is obliged to follow the leader so in a sense...
(despite all the hardships Venezuela is facing currently, the program where it sends free oil to Cuba is still ongoing)

Venezuela is effectively a client state of Cuba and is obliged to follow the leader so in a sense...
(despite all the hardships Venezuela is facing currently, the program where it sends free oil to Cuba is still ongoing)

I just meant by economic model, which I would suppose involved some sort of philosophical hero as has been done in the East with say, Ho Chi Minh, but I'm not sure if that's how they do it in the south.

Regular Americans do have access to health care. Is there another USA somewhere? We're woefully ignorant of geography, you know.
