Guns are tools. Of course they're not toys. Neither are fire extinguishers. Neither are seat belts.

You cannot compare a gun to those things. I'm sick and tired of that false equivalency being parroted by the gun nuts. A gun is made with intent to murder, kill, or maim. It can have a side use, perhaps, but that's the basic design, the mindset that went into making them. Fire extinguishers are made with the intent to put out fire. Seatbelts are designed with the intent of saving the person's life. That's a logical fallacy and you fucking know it.

Of course I can compare a gun to those things. They are all things used to help safeguard life.

A gun was made with the intent to fire a bullet. I can use a fire extinguisher to kill as well. It's the intent of the user, not the tool that counts.

The first ever guns, and the precursors to guns, were made with intent to kill or maim. That's their history. Period.

On a related tangent, the number of people killed by being beaten to death with fists and feet far, far exceeds those killed by guns, even when including suicides.

I'm sure you could find a statistic that claims otherwise. That's why I trust nothing in a post-modern world after 2016. You can't trust any data the right or left is pushing. They could be tampered with.
