The ways Chuck is the light to show the way (We can be a great people, we wish to be...)

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

The ways Chuck is the light to show the way (We can be a great people, we wish to be...)

So, as a prep to checking out Stargate SG-1 (I've downloaded Seasons 1 and 2 so far, and am halfway done with 3) as well as the later Stargate series, I've begun watching his Stargate reviews, and... just passed "Emancipation," and HOLY SHIT. But this prompted me to try something, which is to have you, everyone here, list all the ways you think Chuck is what Jor-El wanted from his son, the light to show the way, from his video reviews. For me, personally, it's stuff like "Profit and Lace" with his discussion of complex gender identity politics while being fair and progressive, him blasting how a rapist who stops something bad inadvertently is still always a piece-of-shit rapist (and rightly so!), and then this review here where, with a full-spread gigaton bomb, he flat-out nukes the episode and those in charge for the racism and misogyny, the sickening borderline rape apologia, that has me cheering so loud, I wonder if Chuck heard it from my house. I mean, he even called out the sexism in "Code of Honor," which is quite rare given how most people prefer to touch up on the racism, because it's so overt, it's sadly symbolic of our real world, where race issues are easier to call out than gendered issues. But enough about that. For you guys, when were times when you personally felt as I had, that Chuck was that "light to show the way?"

Well, there was that time he defeated Bizarro. Who knew that "Night in Sickbay" would be so useful in a pinch?

Voyager's "Real Life" and his take-down of suffering-apologists and the cult of "it builds character". It's small and quiet but powerful.

Well I can't put it exactly to an episode. See this is an opinionated review. But he tries to look at background and see why certain things were a certain way. And he actually tries to be fair. Examples both from Voyager. Chuck despises Neelix. Gets as close to hate as one can be without zealotry. But. The episode The Void, he is shocked Neelix had a good character driven idea. Then that Neelix had a position helping observation when negotiating with some of the groups there in. Another episode I can never remember the title to, he has to be on Neelix side about a blanket and a small book. When others are carrying luggage the size of steamer trunks.
And he never blames Ethan Philips due to his distaste.
I think the same can be said for Majel Barret. He detests Roxanna, but has no issue with her actress that I have heard.
Chuck is as fair as what he reviews lets him be.

Here's another. He regularly is fair to the LGBT without, you know, doing his own term of "gay-dropping" or whatever. In his reviews, it's as if everyone is bi without knowing it, so you never know if a romantic/sex joke comes up, if it's straight or bi. It's great.

Here's one more, that I think is frankly, more telling of who he is as a person, that assholiness aside, he's got a decent core. He actually comes to the defense of a racist in "The War Prayer" review. How many people do you see today who do that, really? I think he's got a lot of great morals. We need more like that in the world.
