Horror of horrors! Surely now businesses will flee the state in droves, layoffs will skyrocket, and a hamburger at McDonalds will cost $25! 8U

Excellent. Still, gotta phase that in slowly. For the states that have done that, I'm so happy!

Good, now we have a new test case to see if raising the min. wage nationally will have positive or negative effects.

Yes. Unlike some die-hard "all-or-nothing" lefties feel, there is legit cause to wait and see.

As ever you are guilty of delivering a strawman argument. Businesses having to pass wage costs on to consumers is a legitimate concern.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 2:43 am https://www.ctpost.com/news/article/Con ... 900942.php

Yes, but will the hikes be enough to render the wage increase moot? That is what we need to figure out.clearspira wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 10:10 amAs ever you are guilty of delivering a strawman argument. Also of interest is if it will reduce the ability of young people with no work experience to get work and gain experience.

This is good news. If this succeeds then maybe USA won't become shit hole with increasing poverty while rich get richer.

Pretty sure just raising the minimum wage won't accomplish that, but I suppose one can always dream as all other prices rise in response to this (since all goods and services will cost more).

Re: State of Connecticut passes $15 Min Wage
Baby steps, sir. We have to start somewhere.
And as to young people being able to find proper entry-level work... I AM one of those young people who haven't had any luck until VERY recently (and I had to seek government help to get this far) and that's with a min. wage of $7.25 (I'm in Oak Ridge, TN, for the record). I don't think this will make things any worse. At least, I hope not.
