I think that sometimes it is acceptable to speak ill of the dead, and some graves are worth dancing over.
This impulse is a weakness some people have, and a sympathetic one, but still one that I hope people can grow out of.

I won't lie, there's still some people I feel that for.

Reagan was a terrible man who caused massive suffering, and the negative impacts of his actions and policies still affect me and my friends today. I also like to push back against the Republican attempts to Lionize him.

Right now my side aren't the ones trying to give Russia a hand-job under the table.

I know all too well.

I'm not a big fan of him, and think Republicans and more conservative leaning libertarians remember him too much for the things he said than the things he did in terms of growing the government, supporting fascists in the name of fighting communism, and of course that ban on civilian ownership of automatic firearms manufactured or imported after 1986. Amongst other things.

But then I don't have it in me to outright celebrate the death of someone, even if I thought they were actually evil themselves (which I don't believe Reagan was). At worst I might say something along the lines of "couldn't have happened to a better person."

I think stuff like this just illustrates how hate-filled some people are. Sad.

I mean, Reagan did help to end the Cold War, let's not diminish that. And now it's the GOP trying to move closer to Russia because they more closely identify with their "family values," in other words, those outdated beliefs like patriarchy and religious intolerance and homophobia and transphobia we wish were still common here, but are not, so let's stick together as proper moral crusaders in the good fight against the "evils" of indulgence and liberalism and intellectualism and sin and throw in with their lot.

I meant authoritarian socialism, Fuzzy. I don't expect you to be more accurate about Trump than you are about Reagan.
