Khan + Superman = STID?

Post by Yukaphile »

So, rewatching Smallville, and it suddenly hit me... Clark's blood can revive the dead. Did the writers for STID draw inspiration from Smallville here? I mean, did they hear Kirk wax on about how the Augments were "young Supermen" and made it a mite too literal?

Well Superman is iconic character and 1st modern superhero so I wouldn't be amazed if that was the case. And Smallville does still have it's own fandom as well.

Well first comic book featuring Superman (Action Comics #1) was published in April 1938 when first comic book featuring Spider-Man (Amazing Fantasy #15) was published August 1962 so Superman pre-dates Spider-Man by 24 years.

I can just see the kind of conversation going on with JJ Abrams that Chuck's joked about with B&B.

"But they call them 'supermen'."

Well, it was interesting to note as I rewatch Smallville anyway. :)

It would explain STiD's Khan. That guy was way more powerful than in "Space Seed." Spock should have brought kryptonite.

It's worth noting that Smallville had just recently ended by the time of STID's release too.

The even easier explanation is that the script was written by hack writers who needed a deus ex machina to end their story.
