It deapends, is HR watching, are you saying it on tv and there is a digital lynch mob waiting...Mecha82 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 9:27 pmThat is so true. Most people on internet only do it because they can get away from it and they don't have to say those things face to face. It's easy to be asshole when you can hide behind anonymity.Beastro wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 8:58 pmYou mean the Internet.
Yes, I know there is a line where the separation isn't there and shouldn't be, but consider how much of that opinion is drawn from each. Both will exhibit it, but imagine if the internet shut down today and how much of that assholery would would be diminished in your life being restricted to physical interaction and phone calls again.
People are complete assholes on social media witht their real name and everything.
I did not force you to add that last sentence...

Well I already answered it. What more do you want from me?

Ok I'll forego replying in detail to Masher beyond stating the fact that I have emptied servers with the exploits I found on BF1942 and how I did things given the poor communication there that I didn't do in EQ and how I think I'd do less of it today given how ubiquitous voice chat is now.
I wouldn't say Slash is at fault for anything here. It was a valid question to ask of you and it opened up more room for others to chime in, which is what I did. There are times when threads are derailed by single people, often very deliberately, but most of the time it's simple topic drift like it is here.
Back on topic, when it comes to Chuck the thing is he really wants to voice his opinion on things and wanting to add to things, like expanding upon the ideas an episode of Trek touches upon to go into them more than the episode can allow. Most of the time this isn't what people do, they come in wanting to assert themselves and using their positions to do so. They want to "win". Everyone of us does so, it's our inclination, which goes back to why internet is so antagonistic.
Re: How many times has Chuck said common-sense stuff?
I don't even understand what OP is really trying to ask and actually found the PC discussion interesting.
Second, "how many times has chuck done ____?" How does this ever promote discussion, do you want me to go watch the current number of vids and count when I think he says something that is css?
Third, okay moving past specific semantics, I think what OP is trying to ask is when does Chuck say things that are obvious and apparent to rational thinking adults? So basically how often does Chuck pretend he's captain obvious? No, that can't be it either, because of the head on shoulders part and the last sentence.
So basically the question is How often do you think Chuck says something I agree with, and think everyone should, versus other idiots who make videos on the internet and I for some reason think are moral paragons or something to admire.
So I think it can be seen how from the OP it turns into discussing PC stuff, because with a vague question defined differently by each person, and some kinda slight about how people on the interwebs are assholes, there really was no where else to go.
But to be fair and try to add to your initial question; I think Chuck used to be a little bit more unfiltered and would throw his controversial opinion out more freely. However, after all the years of getting mail about nonsense like he is sexist because he picked on Janeway, things that really make no sense for him to get commentary on, he got a little sick of it. I think he expected actual criticism instead of nonsensical gibberish. It just became harder to justify voicing an opinion he would stand by and believes in, when he knows the net will twist and someone will throw the accusation that he said something he didn't. So now he has to state just the safest most obvious shit for his own sanity, ie rape is bad. Violence against others is wrong. Honestly it's gotten a little boring to me as a fan of some of the old rants where Chuck would let lose and even if I didn't agree with his opinion, I have respect for those who are willing to take a side and state their beliefs.
That's not to say Chuck is all pummeled into the ground like some other content creators have become. Thank god he isn't on YT only, or big enough to where vimeo would ever take action against him. Pedo jokes can be funny if the context is correct. All jokes can be funny. Censoring art or humor because someone is offended leads to no change in society. It's the internet, and the world, grow thick skin, and on this day after July 4th, thank our forefathers for having the foresight to make the first amendment freedom of speech, and that our courts still adhere that even offensive speech is protected.
Now Some might claim I have derailed the thread. I do not believe I have. Certainly not intentionally. I read the OP several times and believe all of this applies to how often Chuck says what I define as 'common sense stuff'
This is so Vague with the title as it is. Okay first, Common-Sense Stuff (css) is ambiguous and defined by each and every person on this earth differently. It comes from cultural norms, life experience, and just about everything else that makes you, you. What a 50 year old male American who served in the military and worked in a factory for career afterwards will define css as so entirely differently than say a 20 year old French student. css has no definition when you aren't with a group from similar circumstances as yourself. The internet is worldwide.

Re: How many times has Chuck said common-sense stuff?
I wanna ask how one voices a question that starts with "How Many Times"
And end with an answer "9/10"
So he's not said common sense stuff even once? He's nine tenths of the way to saying something that is common sense for the first time?
Coz like I don't know how to interpret this OP.
....I got nothing.

Maybe the OP is hoping people will get into an argument on if the count is 837456 times or 837200, Maybe debate if the same point raised across several reviews should be counted for each instance or just once. Then the forum might splinter between literalists "The OP said each time he said, so each time he utters something counts!" and Figurativalist "Said in this sense meant more like "raised the point" and should be counted once!"
....I got nothing.

Wow with all the hate. 9/10 insinuates that he probably meant "how much" instead of "how many."
I am curious as to what 1/10 he's referring to.
