I understand YouTube has become sort of a hub for MRA dudes, especially geeks like Nerdrotic. I think I watched the first Midnight’s Edge video covering Bond and with every single point made my brain was signaling “wrong” with a buzzer sound.
I think it was a bit where they emphasized Bond slapping women as if that’s a normal thing he does, and that the #MeToo would get rid of that.
Except Bond hasn’t actually slapped a woman in a very long time, and I can only count like three times he did that in all 24 films, the last being in Roger Moore’s second film where he was vocally not comfortable shooting the scene. Bond having to face the era of #MeToo is honestly no different than when the films started to address feminism/women’s lib movement of the 70s.
But I get it, theres MRA geeks out there upset over the influx of female heroes introduced in old franchise properties, and ME is exploiting that no differently than how they covered Ghostbusters ‘16, Captain Marvel, etc, and now they’re aiming for Bond because they know the implications.
The new 007 is a woman - jumping the shark moment confirmed.

I have no idea, but I look forward to seeing what exactly Waller-Bridge has in mind. She believes Bond should stay true to his character, so it’s not like he’ll only start sleeping with women once he gets their consent written on a contract.
In fact, she’s the first credited female writer for Bond since the early Connery films.

Ugh, those MRA-clowns are the worst. Blabbering about either "white genocide" or "male genocide". those guys should get their frakking head out of their filterbubble and see the reality.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 3:13 am I understand YouTube has become sort of a hub for MRA dudes, especially geeks like Nerdrotic. The point you are missing is that they number in their millions, and their dollars are worth just as much as anyone else's. Not to mention the fact that China is now a huge market, often with sales surpassing that of the US, and they really dislike western liberalism.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 3:13 am But I get it, theres MRA geeks out there upset over the influx of female heroes introduced in old franchise properties, and ME is exploiting that no differently than how they covered Ghostbusters ‘16, Captain Marvel, etc, and now they’re aiming for Bond because they know the implications.

Bond has always saw much more success internationally than in the US. CASINO ROYALE for example didn’t have a US domestic take that would make anyone sneeze at, but it’s international was much more impressive. The only exception was SKYFALL, which saw the kind of numbers in the US it hadn’t seen since the 1960s, relatively speaking, which I suspect had to do with the 50th anniversary hype.clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 6:59 pmThe point you are missing is that they number in their millions, and their dollars are worth just as much as anyone else's. If those losers want to boycott a film before seeing a goddamn trailer, that’s their prerogative. They didn’t seem to be missed for CAPTAIN MARVEL’s box office.
