I think I'll like watching this show, but as entertainment more so than as a serious SF work.
It's apparently too late to prevent "Gambit" the series with turtleneck Picard and his plucky band of Vulcan samurai pirates.
Hopefully Seven has had some growth over time. The way the trailer is cut she's just a bit too glib and casual with Jean-Luc.
As far as what other folks have been saying...
Benjamin Sisko's never coming back.
The Borg weren't killed off in "Endgame". They lost a major transport hub and suffered through a pandemic flu incident.
I can live with the B4 makeup. Brent Spiner in particular used to be extremely self-conscious about aging out of the role, just give 'em a break, guys. Not sure why they just threw B4 into a drawer, though, he was out and about at the end of Nemesis, right?

Makes sense. Though technically Annika Hansen was very undeveloped.Meushell wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 3:58 amThe trailer was made well, but I would much prefer to see returning characters that were underdeveloped in the first place, not the ones that overshadowed everyone else. I also just have no interest in the Borg, largely thanks to Voyager. The seemingly lack of DS9 is also part of my lack of interest. Basically, it feels like they are relying on what is popular, and that doesn’t give me much hope for the writing.
That's kinda what I was thinking. It's not particularly easy to exterminate them.

The Borg have NOTHING on the Daleks or the Cybermen. And over there they really were wiped out several times.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 4:28 amMakes sense. I'm saying that if you can seemingly wipe out every Dalek using the Moment and yet have an empire of them still hanging about, a single transport hub isn't taking out the Borg. I agree I did not make that clear.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 7:05 amSo you're saying they died or something?clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 7:00 amThe Borg have NOTHING on the Daleks or the Cybermen. The only Trek show I have any Nostalgia for is Voyager. I'm a Millennial that way.

Re: Picard SDCC Trailer
We don’t really know if there is no DS9 callbacks. Until that trailer, I had no clue that Seven would actually appear. My mind was set on the idea of TNG stuff popping back up, not just 24th century in general.
Bringing Seven back actually makes perfect sense in that she’s essentially a kindred spirit of Picard with their experience of assimilation. If you had to include something from VOYAGER, that’s the most natural approach. So what would be the equivalent of DS9? Likely Worf or O’Brien, and perhaps a refitted Defiant class ship given what their original purpose. Unlike VOYAGER, DS9 didn’t really have too much of a connection with the Borg beyond Sisko’s wife being lost, and he’s gone.

So the upcoming short Treks will preview Picard as well as feature Pike and Spock's crew from Discovery season 2 (possibly testing the waters for a series?).
Ao it begs the question, where on Earth are international viewers going to see these? Netflix? Amazon? Don't maje us wait til after the other shows premiere to get them to us please!
