The game was published at least two versions of Windows ago (and I'm not sure how many Apple OS versions ago), and was already buggy as hell at release; I believe Steam runs on a VM and should resolve any compatibility issues with modern machines. You might still have to tweak it a bit (the help forum has some fixes), but it will be a lot more stable than running it off a CD, especially if you want to apply the restored content mod.

Okay, I'm willing to give it a try then. Question. What about cheat codes? How do those work? I do love my cheat codes.

I would recommend GoG, but that is me. I don't have as many compatibility issues with them as with Steam. Also, everything on Steam is tied to through their client app, so I don't know if you could install a mod or a patch if you wanted to.
For system requirements i use this https://gamesystemrequirements.com/ it will tell you how well a game will run on your system and it's pretty accurate, most of the time.

Huh, I didn't realize GOG had it; yeah, I agree, GOG is typically better than Steam for modding.phantom000 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 3:05 pm I would recommend GoG, but that is me. GoG also often hand-crafts a VM for older games and delivers it as part of the package (in particular they managed to get some games running on a DOSBox that noone else managed to get to work with any sort of decent performance) and, as far as I know, their KotOR 2-version should run on any modern computer.
Also, you can always check their forums (linked from the game-page), to see if there are any prominent problems, whether they are unresolved or have a solution from a tertiary site (e.g. you might still run into trouble, but deactivating the erm... was it the frame buffer for KotOR 2 on a few graphics cards, I think?).
As for modding, all the games on GoG are non-specialized and do not neccesitate the use of their client, so if the game is modable, you can bet your arse that you can use all the mods and fan-patches you want, without running into issues like it can be on Steam at times. This might be especially interesting for KotOR 2 in particular, given there's a rather large restored-content mod around for KoTOR 2.
P.S.: GoG has the definitive advantage over Steam, that you do not need a specialized client to get the software. You can download it straight from the webpage through your account-library. Those downloaded packages can and explicitly are intended to be stored offline as well, if you so wish.

If that's true, then sorry for my impatience/being annoyed on according occasions.

@Madner Kami Oh I recently got DOSBox but have trouble working it. I'm not a computer programmer, at all, so it's a bit confusing. I tend to focus more on the "creative/imaginative/emotional" aspects of anything rather than the technical details.
What about KOTOR 1? I've really wanted to play that for the longest time...
Nah, it's fine. I also am possibly Asperger's or some kind of personality disorder at least according to my psychiatrist. Never formally diagnosed. That said, I know I can be unbearable and insufferable, haughty and pretentious, arrogant, etc...
