I think skipping the Chronicles means you lose a core component of what made the series special with some truly bizarre and alien imagery. The Megamorphs are just glorified Animorphs books with multiple narrators and a bit more page space. I love #2, despite what that idiot poparena says, and #3 is likewise filled with lots of wonderful moments. But the Chronicles are literally extra pieces of the puzzle. Hell, The Hork-Bajir Chronicles and VISSER and The Andalite Chronicles all get mentioned in the main series. So they are NOT as skippable as you think.

No disrespect intended, but I'm kind of wondering what the point of this thread is. You start a thread asking if Animorphs should be adapted, but then spend the rest of the thread saying that you think adapting it would be a bad idea. As far as I know, its not currently being adapted, so why this thread?

Again, I'm not trying to be insulting, just unsure of what the point of this thread is.

True. I could pull the reins back and let others discuss this. There are other fans here besides me. You all know my feelings anyway.

The main limit on choosing what books to adapt and which to leave out is gonna be the effects budget. (Though there are ways around it, the Nickolodeon tv show adapted the book where they find Ax, but made it on land instead of in the ocean). That means that the Megamorphs books (giant dust monster, dinosaurs and jungle set, time traveling throughout history including D-Day) and the Chronicles books (mostly alien characters with very few humans, alien planets, and ship combat) would face difficulty. The chronicles backstory is important, but I feel like it's the stuff that should be saved for the hypothetical 2nd season if a first season were to do well.

Here's a question: what would be the targeted age range? How would they treat violence? For being YA books I found it surprising the amount of violence they got away with. Dolphin!Marco being bit in half by a shark. Bear!Rachel having her arm sliced off and using it as a club. Hawk!Tobias clawing out HorkBajir eyes. The cannibalism of the Taxxons? It's no wonder the Nickolodeon show just had them morph a lion or wolf and roar to scare the Yeerks away.

True, but perhaps I'm more cynical. I look at how because special effects are so cheap and easy, they'd INSIST on adapting those simply to shove in their big, dazzling FX. Especially since there would be that history with the TV show, and much of the complaints were focused around the fact the books felt more imaginative. And my thinking was Amazon Prime might adapt it, like they are doing with The Culture and Ringworld. But that's just me.

Yeah, this.

That said, they'd clearly be playing, imo, to older fans, because no way would that be marketed to younger audiences, and there is a market for nostalgia. So their language would probably take an uptick, and we might even have a few nude scenes. I mean, only a few times. Hell, Stargate SG-1 showed a naked Sha're in the first episode. So it's definitely possible.
