Rob Liefeld Disowns Youngblood

Post by clearspira »

Here is one I thought would be interesting given Chuck's series on the speculator boom and the fact that Linkara is a visitor here: Rob Liefeld hasn't actually owned Youngblood for 20 years despite being heavily involved in it and now regrets it immensely.

I think there is an important lesson here: if you are lucky enough to have intellectual property that is worth something, keep hold of it with an iron grip. Because the sad thing is that he sold it legitimately. As much as it may hurt him, he has no recourse.

So even Rob Liefield himself has realized how bad Youngblood is.

May I ask a question: Who cares? I mean, Youngblood is like the avatar of all that was wrong with 90's comics, to the point where it feels more like a hyperbolic parody of the 90's and people unfamiliar with that era of comics or were born after it would think you're joking.

I mean, who really cares about Youngblood? I mean has anyone really, genuinely cared about it in the past 22 years? Are there still Youngblood comics being made? Does Rob Liefeld actually do comic art anymore (aside from the occasional cover)?

Image If I had children, they'd be my own children. So, yes, I would own my children.

Not if you sold them.

Youngblood got better once other writers got ahold of them 'since all rob could ever do was copy events he thought were cool'

Hell for a time Young Blood was 90s style characters acting out Silver and Bronze age tales

As a practical matter in many countries you do.

You can fuck them up to the point of not being able to earn a salary / ending up in a nuthouse and burden the state with them after you ended up dead in a car accident.
