I'm kind of okay with Samwise as Twoflower. But I do find David Jason a little old to play Rincewind.
edit:Any reason why the URL is broken? I've checked twice and my formatting looks correct

Re: Miniseries: The Colour of Magic
Book related question? anybody else disappointed in The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic because they promise we'd get to follow Rincewind's adventures on multiple disks - at the end of the former - and get to follow many more tales set on many more disks at the end of the latter but we ended up only exploring just one Diskworld?
If Chuck or a mod reads this feel free do delete my account. I would do it myself but I don't seem to be able to find a delete account option. phpBB should have such an option but I guess this isn't stock phpBB.

No known reason, it's been broken for over a month.

Also, I've never seen this series or read the books before, but I have played Nethack, and once I saw the Hawaiian shirt I suddenly remembered that this is where the Tourist class came from.

666 is thought to be a mistranslation; in the original, the Number of the Beast is 616, and it arguably is a code for the Emperor Nero (which I guess makes that "more money than Nero" joke ironic).
Never, ever heard that "failure to get to 7" theory before.

I wonder what Flatearthers think of Discworld. Are they big Pratchett fans?

Re: Miniseries: The Colour of Magic
I will never be happy with Rincewind being an old man at this part of the story. :/ with Twoflower I at least understand why they would want to avoid even the slightest sliver of a stereotype...
Re: Miniseries: The Colour of Magic
Man, it's been so long since I've read that book that I can't really remember what happened in it. I do remember Death getting very frustrated about Rincewind refusing to die. And the "suddenly hopping dimensions and is now in a plane" thing... vaguely. I should probably read it again (and get around to reading Light Fantastic for the first time). Maybe when I've finished the book I'm currently on.

Re: Miniseries: The Colour of Magic
David Jason is one of the biggest names in British TV history, so from a UK standpoint it was probably something of a coup to get him in this, which is likely why he was cast in the part. Jeremy Irons is only two years younger than Charles Dance yet chronologically this would be several years before Going Postal occurred, so not like he's the only one.
Re: Miniseries: The Colour of Magic
Plus he'd been in "Hogfather" as Albert, so it might be they gave him the bigger role to make up for taking the smaller supporting role in that.
I've always thought the Rincewind used in the amateur fan video "Run Rincewind Run" looked pretty much on the spot.

Re: Miniseries: The Colour of Magic
he should be in his early 30s but the artworks for some reason almost always depicted him as 60+. not sure he ever actually REACHED that age in the books. it's my personal pet peeve. and unlike Charles Danse looking wrong but otherwise being amazing in the role, I don't see any saving grace in the performance of David Jason. I am sure he is a fine actor otherwise, jusr #NotMyRincewind
