Nothing in the UV/IR range of the spectrum, no radar-lidar. If I recall correctly, one episode made a big deal of using Geordi's beyond-human range vision while Data was right there.
How does Data see the world?

Can he get bored?technobabbler wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 4:19 pm in a way, interacting with organics must be incredibly tortuous and boring for Data, presumably with all the CPU he can predict/nearly predict everything a person will say/do before they finish their sentence.
no wonder Lore went mad and all evil

The question of his temptation by the Queen in First Contact implies this is the case.technobabbler wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 4:19 pm should also add, since Data has all that CPU power, he theoretically should see the world in slow-motion bullet-time (pigeons have this power too)---giving him the time to dodge arrows (which the Q-pid writers didn't think about)

Re: How does Data see the world?
now this is a "Short Trek" that I'd want to watch....a character piece about Data's existence that starts with a random subordinate or girlfriend or Season 1 Tasha Yar asks Data how he sees the world.
The human at the other end of the conversation wants to be free of human sensory limitations (like Cavil), contrasted by Data wanting to be more human.
Too bad Data blew himself up.

Re: How does Data see the world?
The problem with trying to understand how someone or something sees the world, certainly in terms of direct sesnsory input, is that it's just about impossible to. How could you imagine seeing infra-red or ultra-violet? A different colour but it's impossible to imagine that without it being a shade of one you're familiar with. There's no way someone who isn't colour blind could describe a colour that someone who is couldn't see.
A different perception of time, perhaps a more "mechanical" approach (e.g. we see distance from stereo vision, Data probably sees the exact measurement from his). Oddly enough I think that's easier to wrap the head around.

Re: How does Data see the world?
but unlike lore, Data can see the beauty in it. and appreciate ittechnobabbler wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 4:19 pm should also add, since Data has all that CPU power, he theoretically should see the world in slow-motion bullet-time (pigeons have this power too)---giving him the time to dodge arrows (which the Q-pid writers didn't think about)
