He was replaced years ago so doubt this will make much difference to Zimbabwe, but Mugabe is now gone.

Former leader of Zimbabwe, basically became dictator, committed policies that turned a food-exporting nation into a famine-stricken food-importer basketcase country that experienced Weimar-level runaway inflation a few times due to his shit leadership.

But he has a glow since he was one of the revolutionaries that fought Ian Smith's Rhodesian government and the white minority rule that the Rhodesians wanted to maintain, so he had anti-colonialist and freedom fighter credentials that for a while made it difficult to criticism him without being lambasted as an imperialist or racist or some combination thereof.

And for that reason he was idolized in Sweden long after he became a blood-stained dictator. The Swedish left is always ready to embrace dictators as long as they have the right credentials (not that the right is much better).

Ah, the prime example of an African Warlord with a hint of Che Guevara. No big loss, really.

To be fair Africa would currently have need for some anti-Colonialists leaders considering what China (as in People's Republic of China and CCP) is doing there. They "One Road Initiative" is pretty much modern form of Colonialism.
