It does make it a lot harder to stamp down on people being civilly disobedient unless they just go full boar and give up any pretense. After all, the police had no problem hosing down protestors with pepper spray and beating the crap out of them during the Occupy protests, but when it came to those hillbillies down in the SW who were open carrying during their own version of that, the police and the Feds backed right the fuck off. Yeah, they totally could have gone full Waco on them and looked poised to, but in the end I guess they decided that would have been bad optics. ;)
