No. In the current era of Hollywood staleness, retcons simply to appeal to nostalgia... call me jaded, but it's something that's far more likely to drive me AWAY.

Retcons are a last resort.

You cannot use them as a building block.
Can't we? I mean the Klingon Empire as we know it was retconned in.
What do you mean exactly?

Gonna take a rare moment to respond to you here, Slash.

They were changed from Soviets to Japanese Vikings.

Oh, yeah, does not mean that retcons are as important as plot, good writing, charismatic actors etc...

Also true. They are merely a story tool, nothing more.

It's a meta narrative tool. You only need it if the universe grew beyond a certain size.

For Klingons to have been retconned there would need to be something that changes the facts presented in the continuity. Changing who they're based on doesn't change anything within the continuity.

Besides, in 100 years, who knows how their culture might have changed? Even if later writers didn't muck it up when they went to Enterprise, and what we got now.

Also though Trials and Tribbleations lampshaded the aesthetic disparity between TOS and later Klingons. Everything else just kind of ignores that most apparently.

That was light goofing around, and yet it WAS about continuity and celebrating the past. That's more than you get from those in charge today.
