Oh Worffan101 has a point. The war had years of buildup and there was a sense of excitement. But the missions often felt hamfisted to shove something else our way. Like flying with Tom Paris was less about the mission and how important it was. And saying hey new 'pilot' class ship type! Battles where you would be winning with no real issue. "No it is all lost we cannot have hope! Flee for your lives!" Then break in the middle for the summer event which had nothing to do with the big war event going on. If they had say made it so your character should be injured or traumatized, then put a war R&R theme that summer it would have been less jarring.Eishtmo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 7:21 amWow, so much vitriol over a game. I'd read all of it (and I haven't) but I have to go to work in 15 minutes.
I have problems with the Iconion War story, but they are focused more on presentation and pacing. There wasn't enough war in the first half of the story, and the second half didn't seem as desperate as it should have been. I enjoyed it otherwise for what it was and the questions it posed the the player.
You didn't like it. Okay, but seriously, did you need to write something that long to say it?
I mean I like STO. But there are parts that are done very badly. And while I did the Iconian war, I was not satisfied by it. Mainly because it seemed like most of the time you were a redshirt along for the ride. Not a person IN the story. Note Chuck's review of Dragon Age Inquisition for how that comes across.
