Re: Picard SDCC Trailer
Okay, here's a thought I have. A bit of a worry. What if poor Patrick Stewart is given the Mark Hamill treatment? I think there was a bit of ageism in how they handled Luke's character. "Mark is old, he's gonna die soon, so let's just hand this off to the new generation." That said... Patrick Stewart is much, MUCH older, and... will he even survive the Picard series? I'm sure that must be on the minds of those in charge, and I can't help but wonder if they intend to do something similar. "Shove aside this amazingly wonderful older character, here's the new generation, new characters for you to 'love!'"

One does not simply shove aside Patrick Stewart. So I doubt they do anything that you are afraid of and think that they did do Mark Hamill. Look I know that you can be overly passionate about these things but that feels like conspiracy theory.

Uhm, no. And this is my reasoning. They named the series for his character. You can't just off him for being old when you made the silly thing for that actor and character. Now what is possible if they want/need to replace Sir Patrick. Pull a Doctor on him. We have already seen effects in TNG to revert the age of people. So if Sir Patrick can't continue, but the show could. Give yourself a trap door like J. Michael Straczynski. Picard meets X quantum fluctuation/Thermiatic Radiation and emerges as younger self. Just make sure it is a plot point. People not sure if the young man is the old one. Etc. But they better find one heck of a good actor to follow directly in Sir Patrick's footsteps.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 5:45 am Okay, here's a thought I have. A bit of a worry. Not a conspiracy. That said, it is a worry.

I'm fairly sure the Picard series wouldn't outlast Picard.
I mean, God forbid he passes within 4 seasons, but you'd respectfully end the show and move on.

Unless some brain-trust decides to silly putty his face onto a body double with CGI.

Hopefully they'd just do a new Star Trek show than engage in Necromancy.PapaPalpatine wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 1:03 am Unless some brain-trust decides to silly putty his face onto a body double with CGI.

Re: Picard SDCC Trailer
I could see them doing just that.
