The more radical Trump supporters are more anti establishment and I would bet rest more on the anarchist side than the libertarian side. Their outlooks aren't articulated (in comparison), of course, and not on how government should be structured, just that it should be marginalized or abolished.
So I doubt the union of supporters between Trump and Guns would hold together if the state turned on the nation. Gun supporters would just compete against the state. Might start off small like those people that held up a federal building a couple of years ago. But you see this Area 51 stuff and it's not so impossible. What with the history of domestic extremist acts and its rising and all.
edit: Totally fumbled what I was trying to say so I edited it, sheesh sorry.

Really, the whole Area 51 thing was a fucking JOKE. All it will do is result in very dead people today. That said, it seems to point to more anarchist-friendly viewpoints today than ever before, in the wake of the Bush Administration and how he totally ruined the contented 1990s culture we had going into the 21st century, and of course, the wide proliferation of the Internet leading to the balkanization of our public discourse. Hell, when put that way, somebody like Trump not only seems logical, it feels downright inevitable.

His fan club wouldn't - they'd be all like "harder Daddy Trump." You can see this when it comes to certain people supporting his little executive edicts on the bump-stock ban, and those who support whatever they're calling the right-wing version of Red Flag laws. But they don't represent all conservatives, and definitely not libertarians like myself.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 9:33 am So you posit that if, say, it became clear that Trump was going to lose in 2020 and he canceled the election, and people mass protested, right wingers would join them instead of sitting at home shooting anyone who got too close?
I sincerely doubt you believe that.

Nobody died. A few people got arrested. There wasn't a mass storming. Someone did a pretty decent Naruto run.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 5:16 pm Really, the whole Area 51 thing was a fucking JOKE. All it will do is result in very dead people today. A few things now I have read through the thread.
Beto guy? Pretty much made himself unelectable. I can't see that kind of statement being let go of by any opponent.
Gun control laws. I think the 'Well Regulated' portion should mean you have to be trained and certified federally to own a gun. Because there are in fact stupid people out there.
As to the home defense dispute. While I choose to not own a gun to defend my home. I accept others do. And claiming that a gun is not a 100% protection is spurious. Do you have locks on your doors? They are not 100% either. But it is a defense.
The police are not on the street to protect you. That was even stated in a court case. They can arrest someone that harms you after the fact. But not prevent it. So having a weapon in those instances seems a good idea. I prefer knives, but that stems from a previous point I had about stupid people.

I would expect a good 5-10% of the Republican base to be out on the streets helping police shoot protesters, and another 90-95% to sit at home cheering them on, myself.Admiral X wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:24 pm

after all, a cancelled election is an election that democrats can't win, and what else do they care about?

Are you referring to a supreme court case that ruled in favor of a cop that didn't save someone's life after following proper procedure? Because that's pretty much all the ruling entailed.Nealithi wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 10:47 pmThe police are not on the street to protect you. That was even stated in a court case. People bring that up as if to claim that police have no responsibility to protect the public.

So you're saying that 90-95% of Republicans would abide by their conscience and not aid and abed those corrupt police officers.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 10:58 pmI would expect a good 5-10% of the Republican base to be out on the streets helping police shoot protesters, and another 90-95% to sit at home cheering them on, myself.Admiral X wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:24 pm
