So anytime that a sitting president does something illegal that calls for impeachment, law shouldn't be practiced just because of political inconvenience?
As much as you wish that he had, it's been shown to be a nothingburger. This on the heels of the conspiracy theory that the media and the Dems had been pushing since 2016 simply shows them to be the hateful partisan lunatics that they are.
Speaking of.

If it’s really “nothingburger”, then why are the Republicans freaking out as well? Everybody understands the context of that phone call given what preceded it. Are you just so dead set against “the libs” so much that you support Trump purely out of spite?
@Darth Wedgius Perhaps. But that's an issue of red states vs. blue states given the bulk of votes came from blue states, and that yeah, women are gonna get screwed out of being legitimately elected. Maybe it's coincidence, but it doesn't feel that way to me. When you got a system that hands the White House to the first female champion of empowerment via chain of succession or having a man give it to her, that's entirely screwed up and very telling to the fact we really don't want freedom. We claim to, but in practice, we tend to flock to the strong elite who we think will make us feel safer. And the stereotype is men are strong, women follow.

How is it fair that technically Clinton wins, and then four years later, chain of succession of her boss president dying or resigning is how women get their shot at the White House? It just pisses all over my dreams of seeing a strong woman candidate win the primaries and then the election. That is what female empowerment is, and it hasn't happened. Logically, if we showed we were ready for a woman four years ago, then WHY isn't she in office passing laws and proving women can do the job? Why is it that we're resorting to tokenism? Logically, if we proved we were ready four years ago, then this should be like Affirmative Action. Choose the best female candidate, not just that she's a woman, but that it has to be the best one who is also female. We're never going to get progress at the highest levels that way.

The general feeling among Democrats seems to be Clinton should've won, yes? Then why the hell are they considering putting in an old, out-of-touch white guy who will basically just hand the White House to a black woman when he dies? That's really creepy...

Another reason I left political activism behind. I got TIRED of the lies and manipulations to get people organized. I keep constantly hearing hardcore leftists insist that Trump is the single greatest danger we have ever faced. That's pure hyperbole. He himself is not the bogeyman the left makes him seem like because I literally thought we'd have a nuked world before 2017 ended. It is now almost the end of 2019. Trump is only dangerous in what he's starting, but then, I see that, as I've said, as the logical end result and kind of inevitable given the nature of cable news that focuses on the negative AND the widespread proliferation of the Internet to supplement it as a toxic festering ground of anonymous cancers and falsehoods. Trump can't do jack shit that he wants to. If he had the power, he'd execute people without due process. He is not a king. He may be embarrassing and endangering the world, but there have been literally other worse leaders. And it's that hyperbolic language that is spinning people into a frenzy. Yes, I get it. Trump is utterly antithetical to their views. I do get that! But then, Democrats are the ones to harp on all the time about sticking to the letter of the law and doing things properly and "the right way," yet when the chips are down, they act no better than the GOP in using exaggerated language to manipulate people into following them. It's why I didn't want any part of the DNC anymore in 2017. Refusing to kick out Sanders to the party he did not belong to and actively hates and tries to sabotage wasn't the last straw. But it was not too far removed from the end zone.

Which ones and in what way?
Everybody understands the context of that phone call given what preceded it.
The context as I understand it is that there was no quid pro quo as claimed, and he was essentially asking that an investigation that was shut down by VP Biden by holding foreign aid hostage to be re-opened.
Are you just so dead set against “the libs” so much that you support Trump purely out of spite?
No, I'm just laughing at the transparent partisanship. There's a clip going around of Pelosi from the previous attempt at impeachment, calling the Republicans hateful, and it very much applies to the Democrats today. Really they're just making themselves look like fools, and in the end they're just going to prop up Trump. And that's hilarious.

Gotta say, Republicans and Democrats both freak out easily. It's the result of a gridlocked political sphere where we see each other as tribes, still cling to the 1990s as the gold standard in our own ways, and ironically at the same time, hate compromise but hate the obstruction too.

I think still clinging to the "Russian bogeyman" even at this point is just the left's way to try and make themselves feel better, given the scores of leftists who aligned with Clinton's views, yet withheld their precious virgin votes because Lord Sanders said so and Comey played them and their need to give in to confirmation bias. Just as sexist as anything on the hard right. Sanders voters and young voters and gullible idiots and third-party voters and Independents were what ultimately killed Clinton's chances. And Lord knows I am no fan of Russia, since I think they have issues with antiquity, patriarchy, and filtering everything though a lens of victimhood where it does not belong, but come on! Sanders blasting all the way to the convention, then taking time off to write a book, and then reluctantly campaigning for her, took its toll. Especially since he KNEW what kind of effect Nader had sixteen years prior, and still kept to the course out of wounded pride and egotism. The left will never be able to come together until they admit it was hardly "those Russians," but the fanatics among their own flank. Simple and concise.
