Star Trek: Discovery in trouble?
Re: Star Trek: Discovery in trouble?
Arguably Star Trek Beyond failed more due to the stupidity of Star Trek Into Darkness. That movie left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Beyond wasn't perfect, but much better in its character work and something I did enjoy seeing.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery in trouble?
Beyond was a solid buddy film, maybe a little heavy on the Enterprise nostalgia, but definitely something that they could have hyped a little more for =/\=50 and all. As opposed to Discovery, where the hype engine is now revving to preposterous levels.

That seems accurate. http://www.fox.com/the-orvilleRedem wrote:I just learnd it's due september 10Robovski wrote:Redem wrote:

Will it eat Star Trek's lunch? It comes out first and you don't have to VPN into a UK (or other non US) Netflix account or stream it or *ugh* sign up for CBS All Access.
We must dissent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwqN3Ur ... l=matsku84
Re: Star Trek: Discovery in trouble?
It seems like every new piece about Discovery is anti-hype.

You broke the ship, you broke the bloody ship!
(...I don't really like to do the whining fan thing, but I couldn't not use the line...)
Edited to add: is that thing sticking out of the deflector dish supposed to be there...?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery in trouble?
I guess that would be the USS Discovery's kyber crystal, allowing it to be the first Federation ship to draw upon the power of the force.
Alternatively it would explain why federation deflector dishes in the following eras could be modified to do anything.

They seem to have made some unnecessary changes to the original Ralph McQuarrie design
