Same with Clinton voters. They also had a bleed-over among Democrats that way, they didn't trust Trump so much, they'd rather vote for somebody they felt was corrupt because everyone was told that to such an extent, they believed it.
I'm not even discussing your isolationist views, dude. I am talking about how Sanders die-hard voters and Trump die-hard voters are exactly the same, accelerationists, only replace "big government" with "big business" and there you go.
I think we could afford to help other countries if we weren't wasting money on stuff like, say... fucking $80,000 for a military-grade barber chair, really? And that's where the biggest government waste comes from. Unless anyone could justify WHY that chair which would cost less than a $1,000 in civilian life has to cost eighty times that for the armed forces?
I really don't care about labels in this. I just feel horrified that Trump is literally breaking our promises in order let ISIS loose upon Kurds, which will probably result in mass rapes because hey, they are women, and these Muslim jihadist extremists feel if they're killed by a woman, they won't go to heaven and get their 40 virgins (though if that's a stereotype, I apologize, but I could hardly care when it's to fanatic, evil assholes like those who inflict such disproportionate carnage on others), and all to help out Russia in their new campaign of imperialism and destabilize the West, because hey, it's "Europe's problem." The big issue here is... Wedge, do you often criticize Muslims "invading" Europe? If so, then you're a hypocrite, I'm sorry, but if you don't care enough to get involved to STOP the rape gangs "flooding" into Europe and contaminating Europe's white homogeneous culture in terms of the collective mindset, then why do you care if they are there at all? Especially if you're calling me out on my disgust for what's going to happen to the Kurds? I hope I'm not strawmaning here and if I am, I apologize. I'm just trying to understand.

Yuka, I can't help but feel if it came down to Sanders vs Trump in November next year you'd vote Trump just to spite Sanders. I know you're response will be "THAT TRAITOR HE'LL NEVER MAKE IT TO THE PRIMARIES", but take a moment to play in that hypothetical scenario of having to vote between the two... would you actually?

Not even voting, period. Yes, I felt that way in 2016, but I'm past that now. Whole system is "meh" to me, if you must know.

They knew the risks. I know it too. I think what they believed was based entirely on a lie and their own prejudices. I know what I'm doing is based on my own prejudices.

For what it's worth, Bernie had my vote before he dropped out. I voted for Clinton. Whatever problems I had with her as a candidate, I couldn't simply sit it out that election night.
And that was the very first election I ever voted. Yeah, I didn't even bother in 2008 and 2012. So my first vote went to someone who lost to the biggest buffoon the Oval office has seen. Oh well.

Re: The great 2020 election thread....
Sanders is pure raging hypocrisy. He rails against the very establishment he is part of but can't change because of his intransigence (fucking pissed off the Pope should tell you ALL you need to know) and the 1% he is now part of given his immense wealth. Blasts the super wealthy for having numerous cars while paying for a third home, haha. Sanders is every bit the career politician people thought he was not, and if you voted for him, then you simply liked his unrealistic rhetoric, period. If you saw his New York interview, you'd know he had no damned plans on how to break up the big banks. Give Warren credit. She has a detailed plan on how to do that. Sanders is a bum who didn't get an honest job until he was like 40. He does not give to charity, he blatantly panders and plays politics when he says he doesn't, and strikes me as genuinely full of cognitive dissonance (he can't seem to recall the stuff he said only a few weeks or months prior which contradicts what he says later). Admittedly Sanders has a few good ideas here and there, but his long record in refusing to get anything done in the Senate and being voted most partisan Senator, above any Republican, really speaks volumes. It just means you like his words, empty platitudes with no substance given the messenger alienates everybody. The DNC bent over backwards to accommodate this non-Democrat, and he just set the room on fire when he was a house guest. Still did that in 2017. You can't preach "unity" while ignoring the gaping flaws of one side that refuses to admit it did anything wrong, and if you hate Trump? Sanders admitted to wanting to work with him right after the election. I won't debate Sanders' ideas, just that he never could have gotten them done. Clinton offered realistic solutions given her long experience in cooperation with moderates. Sanders just turns people off, and I hate to say it, but he fits literally every awful Jewish stereotype, not because he is one, but that is just the kind of person he is. He's spoiled, selfish, stubborn, convinced of his own righteousness, shifty-eyed, greedy, entitled, dominating, mansplains, and so much more. If you like the ideas, fine. But he's the worst person to deliver them. You want those ideas, Warren is superior. She actually knows what the fucking hell she is talking about.

Sanders hated Democrats and ran on their platform. What does that tell you? Sounds just like Trump to me. And yeah, Sanders would get absolutely nothing done. Even you've admitted he'd "burn down the system faster." Yeah, he had weird nationalist socialist ideas like nationalizing the news media and abolishing the media, but in his later life, he was just a stubborn, crotchety old man waving his cane at somebody furious that he had wasted his life and demanding what little spotlight he could to make up for his own failings. It's truth, man.

What you are telling me is something that's a bit more perverse then I believe from paying attention to politics. I'm aware of his radicalness for lack of a better word, but the extent to which you use it to describe him on this forum is very excessive. It undermines the Democrats own ability to bring this kind of sentiment to our own attention, especially when they don't talk of him nearly to same extent that you do.
I agree on a certain level to this allegory. It begs the question though as far as comparing what each side did. That means that despite you finding something similar between the two as candidates, the question of their validity in modern politics, as something we are ever concerned about, is still in question.
Do you have any support for this line of reasoning for like our own speculation?Yukaphile wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 6:55 amYeah, he had weird nationalist socialist ideas like nationalizing the news media and abolishing the media, but in his later life, he was just a stubborn, crotchety old man waving his cane at somebody furious that he had wasted his life and demanding what little spotlight he could to make up for his own failings.
