There is that danger, yes.

Any medical procedure that isn't covered by insurance is expensive. I can understand why people might be against the government funding it. But by that same token, I'm for some frank and hopefully effective sex education that consists of actual information on the use of birth control along with ready access to condoms, which I'm sure would have most conservatives screeching at me. I also see abortion as a practical and cheaper alternative to say welfare programs for single mothers since that would mean there would be fewer single mothers. Of course they seem to view it as a form of punishment or something for having sex, so...Yukaphile wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 1:59 pm Well, hmmm... if they stop funding it, I guess people could still pay for it, but damned if that's not expensive. I do consider the moralistic argument that it is a public health issue to be valid, because they are inevitably going to get it. And they should get proper care or they will die.

Ultimately unless the larger electorate is on board with both a) letting people die of preventable causes and b) the cascading closure of publicly accessible emergency care, the taxpayers are on the hook for all forms of medical care to one degree or another, which includes abortion services.
That so many think they can successfully excise a basic medical procedure from that obligation only gets people killed.

Utterly false. Collective guilt is a bullshit concept only the most holier-than-thou of the left subscribe to.
I wasn't even talking about abortion here. That was just brought up.

The DANGER with collective guilt is that due to wild emotionalism humans have, that there is the huge danger to disconnect it across the huge populations so that you are treating an ordinary person who simply has flawed political views as a damned monster. Look at me. I am NOT voting next year. I refused to be blamed for Trump, however, even though I'm well aware of the risks here.

Read what I said again.
If people want to stop “their” taxes paying for abortions, they’d have to stop paying for the medical care of ANYONE who accesses emergency services and force emergency services to actively turn away the uninsured.
Very few people are willing to take that step. The half measures taken to restrict abortion access still get people killed, but not amount of them will prevent taxpayer money paying for abortions in some tiny percentage.

I wasn't even talking about abortions, you damned fanatic! The discussion just turned to that naturally as an example. And FYI, I'm pro-choice all the way, and I'd daresay society needs to learn to KEEP THEIR NOSES OUT OF OTHER FAMILIES' BUSINESS and put less pressure on what they think is "morally" right here, their "love" for the woman or child, because a lot of times the extremism is not about love, but control, and to let the universe judge us accordingly. I'm pro-choice because I'm very much in favor of aborting rape babies, period. And yet, I can admit the temptation is there for me too, to "enforce" my views via emotional pressuring upon women, that "you can't let a baby conceived in pain be born!" Even so, as long as nobody is pressuring her, she has her own body autonomy, then I intellectually won't get involved, even if my heart is raging, as ours all do.
It was just an example. There are many other examples you could cite too.

My intent was to challenge YOUR views of collective guilt. It is bullshit. As it often is with leftists.

He didn't even talk about collective guilt so you are challenging his view of something that he didn't even give his view on.
@CmdrKing By the way, you have fitting avatar. It really fits you as you really seem like intelligent person.

And was that a dig against me, by subtle proximity? He is intelligent, I am not?
Collective guilt is BULLSHIT and I was using it to speak against the Ivy League schools. You cannot legally be a damned criminal without engaging in criminal acts, which is a belief I saw somebody from there once disregard.
