Upcoming Review: Gravity Falls - Season 1

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Yes.

I don't know how anyone can come out of season 2 episode 10 (Northwest Mansion Mystery) and not like Pacifica.

Season 2 episode 3 (The Golf War) should've been a good enough hint for anyone who was paying attention.

I mean, just because she has reasons for being a terrible person doesn’t mean she isn’t still a terrible person. That she’s actually trying *not* to be helps, but it doesn’t absolve her of responsibility, nor pardon her previous actions.

Does Chuck read these forums? Because if so, you might want to spoiler that stuff.

He does, but I don’t think there’s any way to actually spoiler tag without just putting a whole bunch of space before and after what you’re saying is a spoiler and saying that what you’re going to say in that block is a spoiler.

Rodan56 wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2019 11:05 pm I've been trying to hold off on making too many requests, knowing how many Chuck likely ends up doing. So, in general, I'm waiting for one of my requests to be filmed before I go through with making another one. Of course, I kinda made that request years ago, so... I have no idea where it is in the queue right now. I'd probably have a better shot at getting it if I became a patreon now that I think about it.
Well I'm really trying to push forward. Next month I'll be covering 30 separate episodes (Walking Dead, 3 B5, 4 X-Files, 15 Gravity Falls, 4 anime, 3 Star Treks), plus 2 films and a Short Treks. I'd get into it more but I'm off to work on the demonstrable application of psychological phenomena in Terra Prime.
I want it make clear that I meant no disrespect, clearly you have a busy schedule and I'm not one to nag about stuff. Especially since, I requested a film and those take time and are lower priority given this series primarily covers television. I have no real expectations about it being filmed sooner than others.

I apologize for sounding ungrateful, sir. I hope you understand it was not intended that way. Again, I'm more than aware you're busy and a lot of other people make requests. Next time I'll go through more proper channels.
No no no no no no no no no no!

No!

I bit off far more than I could chew, I've no one to blame for that but myself, and everyone who is waiting has every right to be disappointed in me. I only hoped to perhaps show that I'm doing my best to make amends for a long string of bad decisions.
I'm just enjoying the reviews, and I'm glad for their presence in my life. They've been a source of entertainment and information for me for over 10 years now.

Also... regarding Gravity Falls "The Inconveniencing": It's not you. That's really dark. Like... pitch black "only not rated "R" because of a gore discretion shot" dark.

I. Am. SO. Glad. I. Didn't. Try. To. Watch. Gravity Falls.

It's just really damn creepy.

There’s a number of creepy aspects to it, certainly, but I think you’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t give it a *shot*. If its too much for you, fine, but I don’t think you’re getting....a completely accurate look at it, the way Chuck is focusing on things.

And hahaaaaa wow, I honestly believe you’re thinking a bit too hard about things if you think that’d be rated R without it cutting away. This isn’t a show that’s “its only not Rick and Morty because of editing and camera angles”. At its heart it’s a family show. It’s not horror, or gore, or anything like that. It’s not trying to portray things realistically, even secretly to itself behind the black. If it were as bad as you think it is, they’d be a lot more than just scared. And more than just *that* level of scared.

But, it is entirely up to you. I just don’t think it’s fair to yourself to not give it any sort of chance to speak for itself.

To be honest, Dipper and Mabel don't really balance each other that well. When Dipper's wrong, he admits and atones. When Mabel is wrong, Dipper bails her out. She rarely ever learns anything and Dipper usually gives in more than she does. Look at the finale. Who gets exactly what they wanted in the end, even though it almost destroyed everything? Who gives up an opportunity?

Note how even in these episodes, Dipper should give up his need to plan, but Mabel shouldn't give up her silliness. All the "lessons" are slanted in her direction.

I'm looking forward to his take on "Little Gift Shop of Horrors". One of the tales in that episode is loaded with information if you look at it in context of later episodes.

I think there are issues between in terms of the difference between like, whether the behaviour is explined, if have sympathy for and if feel somehow justified or redeemed. As I recall I was sympathetic to Pacifica when some of the bad stuff happened to her or was revealed about her past in the second season and it explained some of her behaviour, but I am not sure I really liked the character and as suggested I don't think it somehow justifies all the stuff she did. Whether you like her or not is independent of whether you think her behaviour has any justification, you can like mean or even outright evil characters and so on.

---

Thinking about Chuck's review and how lucky Dipper is he did not have a birthmark (I am pretty sure it was acne) in the shape of the constellation Cancer (the crab), I realized Dipper could also be Ursa or the Plough without changing the pattern on his forehead (since the big dipper is aka Ursa Major or the Plough).

In terms of spoilers I am pretty sure Chuck has already watched the whole first season, I would not be surprised if he has watched season 2.

I am interested that Chuck does not mention all the little Easter eggs, coded messages and so although I can see arguments both ways.

I would note that two of the copies run off and are never seen again (until the closing credits of the last episode of the series).
