I hope they don't take off his face like everybody's saying.

It doesn't really matter, we all know what the actor's face looks like. Unless they're faking us out with the childhood flashbacks and he's not human, of course. We do know he was adopted, and Legends Mondos weren't picky about that kind of thing.

Mondos?

Re: The Mandalorian
Well people are saying that you can't have a main character without comprehensive dialog and characterization with their face. I've never cared about Boba Fett that much as far as a cool guy but if you put a story behind the character we saw in the original trilogy then I don't think we'd need to see his face. We get it that he's a bounty hunter whose reputation precedes him.mathewgsmith wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:25 am It doesn't really matter, we all know what the actor's face looks like. I thought that this show is about Boba Fett and was kind of disappointed that it's not, but as I'm saying here kinda, it doesn't make a big difference as far as what we're getting.
Is that how this resembles a spaghetti western?

Re: The Mandalorian
Other than what I believe is a deliberate attempt to imitate Eastwood's trademark delivery, the shootout in the desert town was what made me think spaghetti western. Just the way it's shot. Specifically reminded me of the Blondie and Tuco vs. a ruined town full of mooks fight from TheGood the Bad and the Ugly. A lot more enemies, obviously.
I'm pretty sure the gatling blaster part was a Josey Wales reference, although the latest Magnificent Seven remake (INO) did the same bit.
There is the Mandolorian with no Name thing, but that was more of a marketing gimmick after the fact than actual feature of the Dollars trilogy.

Re: The Mandalorian
One thing I don't understand. Why is there such severe marketing ads for The Mandalorian online? Mecha82 has consistently argued that who you see online is not who you see IRL. Okay then. But they must know that online chatter is overwhelmingly negative towards what they have done with Star Wars. Even if it's only slightly negative. Seems more like shameless and greedy self-promotion, since... I mean, have you ever noticed online ads have gotten REALLY obnoxious over the past few years? Worse than ever. It's infected the whole netsphere. So that's already at a two-stroke disadvantage. Couldn't that money be better put to use elsewhere? Just more wasteful spending. It's why half their movie budget is blown up on shameless marketing today. Very sad.

Re: The Mandalorian
So episode 2 is filler. I enjoyed it, but it's not an arc episode. I'm a bit surprised by that, since the seasons will be so short.
I did appreciate that when he gets thrown off his groove and the "fearless badass" routine fails Mando turns into an awkward doofus who makes stupid mistakes in the heat of the moment and just has no idea how to deal with problems outside of his narrow skillset. Nolte's character also got some stuff to do this time, so his existence now makes sense. I have spoken.
On the other hand, I am POSITIVE that we'll be hearing about how the portrayal of Jawas is offensive to some group or other.

Re: The Mandalorian
Ads are all targeted these days. The server sees a lot of Star Wars stuff and sci-fi in your browsing history, so you get a lot of those ads.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 12:23 pm One thing I don't understand. Most of the internet is effectively unusable without an ad blocker. It's been like that for at least five years, maybe even ten.

Re: The Mandalorian
Yeah, I have my own ad-blocker. And it still is not 100% effective. It's just shameless. We begin ad-blocking, so they ramp it up. It's like harassment.
