I still haven't seen explanation that makes sense why they think that instead of them putting labels like SJW, Snowflake, PC and NPC like that some how would help they case when in reality it doesn't. It just make them look like idiots that aren't able to create actual arguments so they use labels and buzzwords instead.
As usual, your strawmen are awesome. They are formidable adversaries that strike at the heart of my views.

The truth however is that we have no problem with true diversity. We have a problem with modern diversity that is nothing more than removing men, whites and heterosexuals to fit an agenda rather than for any actual story driven purpose. We have a problem with The Woke doing so to beloved franchises; bleeding off the original fanbase whilst barely attracting anyone new to fill the gap. It happens over and over again and we get to listen to the same confused reactions every single time.
Hello Ghostbusters, hello Terminator, hello female Thor, hello gay Iceman, hello dickless Dr Who, hello whatever The Last Jedi was.

To the left, modern diversity is simply attacking white males. You don't see many diverse movies or TV shows...and it's odd as you think they would make them. The only time you see and hear diversity is when they attack a white male character and want to make them anything else except male and white.

Now sure, they do it for the shock value and attention....and the pure hate of striking a ''blow" against white guys. They can laugh all day lomg about how they ruined a character for the white males.

But you do wonder....why don't they just make a new character? Oddly they have no answer here...

Because their new characters tend to suck ass. No one wants to watch the adventures of ''Jane Sarkeesian MD''. That show would get cancelled due to low ratings immediately. Call her ''Doctor Who'' however and suddenly millions are watching.

Poor boys. Such tragic persecution. Is there a GoFundMe to help the victims?

Since there's no logic here, I assume you don't expect a logical response in return.

Point being is that those blasting "diversity" on the right can seem to almost ignore diversity done right in the past. Oh, they cite some specific examples, sure, but it's almost always in pursuit of their agenda. While leftists feel diversity simply for its own sake is... somehow okay? Shouldn't we be past the era of tokenism? Again, going with the Trek example, I would prefer Dax over the first gay couple in Star Trek ever. Hell, I'd prefer Bashir and Garak were together. They'd be so amazing. They have superb chemistry. Diversity is not enough. Equality is not enough. Er, in storytelling. You need a good story. Look at Star Wars. The all white male Empire vs. the all white male Rebels, with few exceptions. Yet the prequels are seen as being inferior while having arguably the best diversity. So, there you go.

Uh, yeah, diversity 'for its own sake' is a good thing. Progress has been and is being made but we're still in an era where the straight white cis male is treated as the default identity, and various degrees of barriers exist to other identities being portrayed. That's a bad thing. Trying to fix it - in whatever way is available to you as a creator - is a good thing. There doesn't have to be some other rationale for doing so, fixing a bad thing is good 'for its own sake'.

Of course as you say, diversity doesn't make a story any better, but neither does limiting yourself to straight white cis men, as seen in any number of terrible movies/shows you care to name. 'Diversity is not enough' may be a technically correct statement in terms of crafting a piece of cinema/tv, but it's also a hell of a comforting sentiment to everyone who'd be really happy if all the brown and queer people went back into their corners, so for myself I tend to be pretty cautious of airing it willy-nilly.
