A law student. Seriously. Let that sink in.

And many would like to use that to justify NEVER saving ANYONE. Mostly as a cost-cutting measure.

She, for the record!
Reminds me I should link that article in my self-promotion topic.

Yuka: I’m not making a moral statement there. I’m talking about how hospital billing works.

If hospitals are obligated to treat all patients
And
If abortion can be an emergency device
And
If some patients do not and will never have the funds to pay that medical cost
Then hospitals will have to solicit those lost costs some other way.

Whether by direct government payout or simple increased costs for all other patients, taxpayers will end up funding those costs, some of which will include abortions.

The only way to avoid this is to make some of the premises untrue. Which would be disastrous, and thus far almost no one advocates for those changes.

But many people don’t want to acknowledge this and approach the situation logically (eg reduce the number of abortions by reducing the number of unwanted/dangerous pregnancies), and the resultant legislation of that shortcoming have gotten people killed.

It’s not a matter of blame, but of factually illustrating the situation and identifying likely outcomes and points of intervention.

Just to remark about the OP.

Both sides virtue signal. Hell you could say the same thing about me when I say I am a moderate. I look at both sides and favor left or right depending on the argument. I am virtue signaling right there.
I got nothing to say here.

Right, but we're talking about levels of toxicity, and not just something that applies to most any generic partisan exposition.

Yes I am. I feel like people should do good things just because they are good and shouldn't go around proclaiming that they are good things so they can get attention from it.

This is just my opinion. But outside Hollywood (with the rise of that sort of left leaning Feminist dogma, Ghostbusters, Captain Marvel, Star Wars etc) you see this alot from both sides.

Toxicity and all. Whether it is politics or religion. Example, is atheism. Lots of virtue signaling about that from both sides. But it all depends on which side of social media you dwell in the most.

Since I am a veteran I still have alot of friends from my time in thd Navy. So I got a lot of political posts from both sides, left and right. You can easily see the virtue signaling all over the place.

Well rechecking the definition and it really does apply to more generic useage.

I do feel that people are a bit quick to call it out as well.

I suppose the original intent of this post was more about the virtue signaling in media like Hollywood. I may be wrong.

In that regard I agree. The most recent example is Charlie's Angels and Elizabeth Bank's remarks about that film and so-called male dominated action franchises.
I got nothing to say here.
