Moral of this story: Don't piss off the electorate for three solid years.
We used to argue whether Star Trek or Star Wars was better. Now we argue which one is worse.

This is turning into a slaughter. This is like a lion picking on a limping gazelle.

For better or for worse, Brexit is now happening.

So, clearspira, what I said on the JLU thread the other day? Yeah, turns out said message was, in fact, extremely ironic in the event.

This seems like the only possible lesson you can't take from the election really. Quite apart from pissing in the entire UK's cereal and calling it ice cream since 2010, Conservatives ran on basically one thing that they've been failing to do that entire three years through their own sheer incompetence.

If only there was another more suitable thread of which you could apprise him of this.

Not really, no, as it was obliquely pertaining to the election, so this thread is more appropriate than bringing more than an oblique reference into that one.

USA Civil War: Republicans were the anti-slavery party and Democrats were pro-slavery. At some time the parties flipped.

Labour used to be the Peasant Party and Tories were the Aristo Party. Another flip???

Yeah, saw this one coming, sadly. Labour ran a garbage campaign from start to finish; Corbyn's clique was pulled too hard by libdem wannabe New Labour types to prevent the splitting of the rural working-class vote to the Brexit party, and those New Labour fools haven't realized that people are wise to their economic incompetence. Vidkun Swinson and her toadies carved New Labour types out on one side and Nigel Fartage and his nationalist chump squad got the pro-Leave working class rural votes.

Add to that a very successful Tory propaganda blitz backed by major news magnates like Murdoch, a comically inept series of Labour debate performances as they refused to even stick to a position on Brexit, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Man, I hope Vidkun Swinson and Nigel Farage are happy. Those worthless bastards probably just broke the UK for good and doomed Scotland to being an impoverished backwater*, and they have fuck all to show for it except their overinflated egos.

*The main reason SNP has such support is that the Scots THINK they still have oil. They do not, at least not oil that can be affordably acquired. So if they leave the UK they're basically fucked.

The Civil War Democrats were about confederacy and state rights superseding the Union of states, which is what the conservative UK party is doing with Brexit.
