... sigh... I don't know where else to go for B5 once it's yanked off Amazon Prime... I see no news online that Warner is setting it up on their streaming site...

Buy the big DVD boxset off Amazon. It comes with everything, even the TV movies and Crusade.

Am I correct in my understanding that there is still no version that hasn't been pan-and-scanned to death currently available for sale or streaming?

Pirating doesn't work. You can't get the movies that way. I've tried. And I CAN'T AFFORD a boxset that is hundreds of dollars overall. Besides, DVDs are so fragile, they won't last long anyway. I had the Episode III DVD back in the day. By 2007, it was already breaking down - whole segments of the movie had to be skipped due to glitches, and... I dunno how it has improved since then.

Err, when did you last checked the price? Here it is all 5 seasons for £25: https://www.coolshop.co.uk/product/babylon-5-complete-box-saeson-1-5-dvd/AF5DZ4/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgPb427Gs5wIVmK3tCh1x1AkXEAQYAiABEgInNfD_BwE I'm sure it can be found elsewhere in the world for a similar price. I bought the complete collection with Crusade and all the TV movies for £40 3 years ago.

My 2 first ever DVDs came with my 1st player, Gladiator and Deep Blue Sea. Both still play perfectly today, same with all my CD-Rom games with the oldest dating back to around 1992. It could be a problem with your DVD player as opposed to the discs, or you've been very unlucky to have got a defective one. They should all last for decades provided they're looked after.

Some seem to think it's just being yanked "for free," yet that's inconsistent to my own experience, where I bought Season 1, got the others free.

Like I have never had a DVD fail that I owned. All the ones I had trouble with were rentals of popular movies, probably from people mishandling and mistreating the media. Sets like this are out of print, but I'd try Ebay if you don't like Amazon prices.

I don't know how rough Yuka handles his DVDs because mine are still in good shape.
