Only the fourth time ever, and the longest at more than a single day. Very unusual, but probably for the best.

Fortunately, they announced they'll be paying the cast members during the closure.

Football/soccer is cancelled across Europe. Formula 1 probably cancelled for weeks.

Conspiracy theory: this disease is more dangerous than is being claimed. Because from the data I know, Covid-19 is less dangerous than common flu. Why don't we shut down the world every flu season? Hell, at this point it is less dangerous statistically than dying via a car.

The data doesn't point to it being less dangerous than common flu. Sure, there have been fewer deaths than from flu but that's because it's not managed to get as widespread (which it will do if nothing was done).

Trump has been mishandling this in order to boost his chances of re-election.

Obviously, the data your using is the problem. The mortality rate of Covid-19 I've seen is about 2-3%, while the mortality rate of common flu is 0.1%. That's an order of magnitude difference.

The danger is probably a lot higher for people who's basic hygene standards are so low they think that newspaper, leaves, and rags are acceptable substitutes for toilet paper.

I hear Disneyland has shut down, and give Disney credit, they're paying the workers. Or so I hear.
