Chuck leaving Vimeo

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

That post.... Damn. I wouldn't want him to, but I wouldn't blame him one bit if he walked away. His show is amazing, but for some reason he's hounded on every platform he uses. Or the platform goes under. Constantly having to move all those videos. CBS threatening to end his career. Then all the stuff with his house. And yeah, he puts out so much content, he has to be putting so many hours into this show. I can't imagine.

Get well soon Chuck. Your health is the most important thing.

Because in a month when he's forced to take them down from that host, you'd still have your DVDs.
Dunno where you take the notion from, that this needs to be hosted by one of the video-platforms. Online storage is cheap and ubiquitous and free from any copyright-troll interference.

I mean the notion comes from the fact that most successful video producers seem to distribute via streaming so, I think people forget you can in principle host whole video files that people can download and play the files locally (and keep them as long as they like).

Reasons video producers don't do this I am not clear on, the one issue that I know of that is not an issue for Chuck is that lots of other video producers rely on the service suggesting them to new viewers (the dreaded Youtube algorithm), since Chuck does not rely on that (or at least no where near the level of other producers), not clear what the major impediments are (cost?).

Chuck could clearly use some other distribution methods for at least some of his stuff. For example since his book reviews are basically devoid of specific visuals he could probably release them as podcasts, which seem like they get effective distribution by multiple hosts (both as streaming and downloadable content) no fuss. Although that would be a minor sideline to most of what he does.

Put me down as another who would totally understand if SFdebris were done on a less punishing schedule...

Chuck can always ask Linkara about the legalities of releasing DVDs if he has any concerns.

After she makes her own space-marines, but I lean more towards orcs or gene-stealers😄
