What a dumb argument. Like, if I was to parody an argument made by a westerner whose heart is bleeding for the poor Chinese government, that would be it.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 6:27 amRight, cuz we never get diseases from pork/swine, or birds like chickens.it came out of some dirty marketplace where they kill dogs by the side of the street
That's what I mean by racism.
"The westerners have an unhygenic and primitive habit of clasping hands when they meet each other, regardless of what filth they have touched, and this doubtless is responsible for the rapid spread of disease in their countries". That's what Clearspira sounds like.

I wonder why someone would call something so blatantly racist racist. A real mysteryclearspira wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 1:17 am it came out of some dirty marketplace where they kill dogs by the side of the street.

I get it. I really do. It is something so foreign, so alien, so different to how we live that it MUST be a lie. But actually it isn't. There are places in China that will literally kill an animal for you to eat by the side of the street. There are holidaymakers who have seen it and there are photos. Google please.thetrueelec wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 10:04 amI wonder why someone would call something so blatantly racist racist. It is not racist to say they have unusual customs.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 11:07 am I get it. I really do. I can believe that people in other countries have customs I am not comfortable with.
But I don't look at them with such a judgmental eye.
It is racist to do that.
As was pointed out by the comparison to handshaking made by Fuzzy Necromancer, which rightly illustrates that demonizing a people/culture because you look down on their food is as backward thinking as looking down on a culture for shaking hands.
And earlier when you said you would vote for Trump so that he would challenge China... I think you are out of your mind.
Trump's opposition to China was pathetic, needlessly disruptive to the world economy, and whatever punitive damage you think he can deliver on is massively dwarfed by the damage dealt to the US because of his tactical and strategic bungling of the whole situation.
To claim voting for him is a winning move because of this pandemic situation is a shockingly bad take.

Especially when it was Trump who claimed that pandemic is under control when clearly it's not and those working under him know that. So really he was just blowing smoke out of his butt too make himself look good at eays of his uneducated supporters.

No, they said they would be doing this around this time even during their herd immunity speech. They haven't actually changed anything; all that's happened is that we have finally reached this point.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:17 pm Butbutbut heard immunity and pushing it into summer!!!!111

Why is it racist to criticize other cultures? Wet markets like Clearspira is describing are dangerous. Shaking hands is, too.Rocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 12:04 pmIt is not racist to say they have unusual customs.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 11:07 am I get it. I really do. Non-sequitur. Clearspira's point was that Trump would challenge China and that it was probably a good idea to do so. The wisdom of challenging China in the past, whether it was wise or not, is logically irrelevant.Rocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 12:04 pm And earlier when you said you would vote for Trump so that he would challenge China...
