From someone high up in Bernie's campaign, "On the plus side, I can drop the “Democratic” from my tweets about why Socialism is good. "

I hope she's just punning on the name of the party, but given someone else in the Sanders campaign talking about putting conservatives in gulags, it's also possible keeping more Sanders supporters out of positions of power might have been a very good thing.

Re: The great 2020 election thread....
The logic chain probably goes:
1) The set of systems that socialism describes can include Stalinism.
2) If a Sanders staffer says "Socialism is Good", somebody can attack Sanders by saying the staffer meant "Stalinism is Good".
3) Democratic Socialism excludes Stalinism, and thus guards against attacks, but is clumsy on twitter because of character limits.
4) This person isn't in the public eye anymore and therefore can go back to using shorter terms.

That makes sense. I supposed I can never be sure unless she clarifies it. Along with the response by ABC reporter David Wright being asked if he considered himself a “Democratic socialist” and answering, “Oh yeah. More than that I would consider myself a socialist," and the (AFAIK never repudiated) gulag enthusiast, I will wonder, but I suppose it's academic for the time being.

Just seems like a bizarre thing to say.
I'm at a loss as far as rationalizing it or anything.

The gulag enthusiast was caught by Project Veritas. Yeah, they have a reputation for shaky journalism, and I don't know if it's deserved or not, but Sanders' campaign was mum on the issue.
https://www.theblaze.com/steve-deace/bernie-sanders-staffer-gulagsIn Nazi Germany after the fall of the Nazi party there was a sh*t ton of the populace that was f**king Nazi-fied. Germany had to spend billions of dollars to reeducate their people to not be Nazis. We're probably going to have to do the same f**king thing here.
That's kind of what Bernie's whole free education for everybody...because we're going to have to teach you to not be a f**king Nazi," he added. "There's a reason Josef Stalin had gulags. And actually, gulags were a lot better than what the CIA has told us that they were. Like, people were actually paid a living wage in gulags, they had conjugal visits in gulags. Gulags were actually meant for, like, reeducation.

David Wright and Kyle Jurek are two distinct persons, as far as I am aware.

Yes, to the best of my knowledge. Though I don't know if they've ever been seen together, so a secret identity might be possible, and that would be a little bit cool.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 3:52 pm David Wright and Kyle Jurek are two distinct persons, as far as I am aware.
Sorry, I never meant to imply that they're the same person. If you can point that out, I'll edit the original post to make me seem less stup... I mean, to clarify and prevent confusion.

I REALLY hope Biden picks a good running mate, or this will be an even more dubious and painful process for me than it already is.
Mostly I just...don't trust him to win. The man has been losing elections since before I was in the fallopian tube. Hillary lost the electoral college when 45 wasn't an incumbent, and this man has a lot fewer good points than Hillary.
My best hope now is that he gets a really cool running mate, wins, then has a heart attack early into his first term. I'm not holding my breath though.
And before anyone asks, YES, I am still voting for Biden in the general election, albeit grudgingly.
