Your genuine thoughts on the FTS/Flat-Earthers in general? Please discuss.

Post by Captain Crimson »

So, I was just browsing online for fun, and I was coming across some Earth-chan memes. One question came up in my mind, that I wanted to bring here: What are your genuine thoughts on the FTS or Flat Earth Society and Flat-Earthers in general? Especially being a site dedicated to SF verses from a fandom master who pushes for thinking above all else.

Personally, I tend to suspect that the perception of Flat-Earthers is higher than it actually is. In this day and age, that's a telltale sign of primitive thinking, and so most probably roll along with it to mock it. People trolling astronauts on Twitter, well, that's morbidly amusing in a weird way, given their own innate hypocrisies in their demand for the empirical approach. But then you got the first Flat Earth conventions popping up, which I find much sadder. These people are being singled out as the butt of jokes, not hidden behind the anonymity of the Internet, and it's so painfully clear something hardcore is happening in their lives, and this is a way to psychologically cope. And by putting themselves front and center, it's gonna make their existence even more lonely than it probably already is. And I just find that sad, but what can you do?

But I wanna know what YOU guys think. Is there something I'm missing? What do you think about the FTS? Will they still be claiming it's flat a thousand years from now when we go to Mars? Is this just an act of rebellion? Is the belief in Flat Earth getting stronger, or is just online trolling? Or do you, perhaps, actually believe in Flat Earth? Whatever the case, share your thoughts down below, smash out a reply, and I'll talk again soon!

Flat Earthers fall into the same category as preppers and conspiracy theorists. Granted our perspectives as an individual are limited and there are entirely rational reasons to fall into either of those traps, but if you fully envelop yourself in such believes, then you're either a moron, paranoid or have a psychological disorder that needs to be treated.

Sorry if that sounds kinda harsh.

I don't understand the motivation for the conspiracy.
Why in the name Sobek would anyone bother to fake the Earth being round?
What would be the benefit?

I could more easily get behind the Lizard Men ruling everything than this. Because at least a covert takeover by a evil race of monsters sounds plausible when you look at human history and see, "Hey, look at all the conquest and covert puppet mastering by the race of colonizers".

Flat-Earthers are either stupid or religious nutcases that still believe everything written in bible to be true or literal. Look while I respect AJ Styles as pro wrestler he is flat-earther (alongside with some other views) and I can't respect that about him.

I can't help but wonder how quickly they'd embrace a Round Earth model then. 8-)

You know, maybe it was a mistranslation? Maybe God wasn't saying it was the Earth that's flat, but the universe?

I used to think the earth was flat. Then I turned four.

To put it bluntly, I think the honest ones are too stupid to understand how stupid they are. I've watched a few of their videos and they don't understand the science, and then they disbelieve their own flawed understanding of it.

They think north is up, centrifugal force from earth's spin would be huge, and the earth's orbit would put Polaris in a different place in the sky every six months.

People who think 5G causes Covid 19 and check their horoscope before making an important decision are geniuses compared to these guys.

1 solid theory of mine is these duck-faces are clearly on some pseudo-cognitive drug that makes them perceive our world is flat and other types of extra-dimensional views.

1 fluid theory of mine is that they are actually 15th century and less world explorers that somehow got trapped in a temporal anomaly and got sent to our time-stamp, the Bermuda triangle and other region anomalies may have done something with that, along with the abnormal presence of helium-8 with its beta-2 resonance in the ino-sphere above the Bermuda.

But I cannot say what is making these people worship a dead idea.
Do not pity a Slave for the Slave-Lord, but hear the power of what Chaos can be.
All Beings bow before the children of he who bound their flesh by their words.
Fall and wail, all flesh, bone, soul,& power is a servant to Yun-man, the First Slave-Lord.
