Was Bane charismatic in Dark Knight Rises?
I've kind of heard this brought up before, but like during the football stadium speech, was this very tension building or anything? Like never did I get the impression that he was convincing literally anybody that what he was doing was in the slightest form a drop of liberation in what he was doing. It seemed to have the dramatic effect of a bank heist or something. Like, this guy has nothing on Lenin or McCarthy.

Well, allegedly the US has elected Trump for president, so... yeah, Bane was absolutely convincing and charismatic. By comparison.

He wasn't trying to convince them to join his cause of liberation. He was trying to convince them that liberation was his actual cause. He was convincing enough that the army didn't immediately storm the city and kill his ass, which is all he really wanted.

I thought what everyone took away from Bane in the movie was that was the intention, but the voice was so hilariously incongruous with how he looked it completely undermined the attempt.
It's like going to boot camp, seeing your ripped, grizzled drill sergeant and cringing at the thought of his berating voice only to hear that he talks like Droopy.

The Nolanverse is the worst thing to happen to Batman in decades.

Well that's not a very hot take regarding Dark Knight Rises for instance, but what's so bad about the first two movies?Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 4:29 am The Nolanverse is the worst thing to happen to Batman in decades.

I dunno, maybe there's something unsettling about unstable billionaire going around taking the law into his own hands in the era of Trump? Just speculating.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 1:19 pmWell that's not a very hot take regarding Dark Knight Rises for instance, but what's so bad about the first two movies?Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 4:29 am The Nolanverse is the worst thing to happen to Batman in decades.

I just get the impression it would be unsettling to some people. Not me specifically. As I had said, I was just speculating.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 2:40 pmWell that's two pieces that fit together real well like but what does it have to do with the impact on batman again?Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 2:39 pmI dunno, maybe there's something unsettling about unstable billionaire going around taking the law into his own hands in the era of Trump? Yes. As I said, that makes sense in describing Fuzzy's proclivities towards socialism, but doesn't really make sense as far as what he said.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 2:41 pmI just get the impression it would be unsettling to some people.
