When Ranked choice voting is implemented because the combined forces of a FPTP and Presidential system makes it so that votes for a 3rd party active reduce the importance of the issues championed by that party.Robovski wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 9:28 pm Once again, a pox on both houses for their disservice to the American people. But that being true doesn't negate what we're saying. I think it is going to be another few centuries before that, and while near-perfect audio synthesis and near-perfect CGI intrigue me for passionate fan projects and not soulless creative drones, they terrify me on a scale of far-ranging social ripples. You shall see vindictive ex-boyfriends trying to frame their girlfriends for murder, or vice versa. I think in the end, our tools will evolve to the point they help us get along better, but that's a reckoning that's too long for us to ever live to see.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 11:37 pmBut that being true doesn't negate what we're saying. Damned if I know. But we can't be seen for an illness if it's already killed us. Triage first, treatment second. I want to see the problems of society mended, but unless you've got the Phantom Thieves of Heart on speed dial, that sadly won't be soon. Keeping the situation from getting worse is all we can do right now.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 11:37 pmBut that being true doesn't negate what we're saying. Well you better spend as much energy coming up with a good answer as you do wagging your finger and tsk-tsking leftists for not getting enthusiastic about Biden's creepy uncle campaign train.

Oh no, he's horrible, terrible, the worst demo candidate out of the current options... but he's STILL better than letting that circus of an administration get a second term. I'm not asking for everyone to praise Biden as our lord and savior or whatever, I just want people to vote those idiots out so we can get back to actually improving the world! And the only realistic way to do that now, sadly, is Biden. Not Sanders, Not Waren, not refusing to vote like half of the US did last time, voting Biden and, thus, BLUE. Vote Blue! Vote Demo! Vote Left! VOTE! TRUMP! OUT!Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 1:16 am Well you better spend as much energy coming up with a good answer as you do wagging your finger and tsk-tsking leftists for not getting enthusiastic about Biden's creepy uncle campaign train.
Sorry if I sound preachy/annoying, but we can't get anything done as long as the current administration remains. We have to tear down the wall (ha) in our way before we can cross the bridge.
Though, hey, let's have a thought experiment. If/when that roadblock is bypassed, what would your ideal next steps be? Mine is laying the groundwork for the, now cliched, 'Medicaid for All! New Green Deal! Universal Basic Income and/or a Proper Minimum Wage! Weed Out Corrupt Offices! Corral the Lobbies!' etc, etc. All that 'commie' stuff.
